Snorkeling

I have some friends who took a Barrier Reef snorkel and beach tour in Belize. They said the tour took them to a caye (small sand island) where they could relax or snorkel in the water around it. Near the caye the water is not so deep.

I think most cruiselines put the minimum age for snorkeling at 8 years old though... you could check with your cruiseline or try the tour website www.belize-paradise.com.

Let us know how you get on!

On the Goff's Caye excursion, you can snorkel from the boat over the reef or from the shore. Your kids would de fine from the shore, and the boat stops at the island first to let anyone off who prefers to stay there. The island is tiny, tiny, the sand white, and the water shallow. You can snorkel in 2' of water even, although the variety is much less than what you'd find over the reef.
