Camp Carnival open 1st night?

It's always been the case on our cruises that Camp Carnival isn't open on the 1st night of a 7-night cruise. Our last cruise was only 4 nights and Camp WAS open the 1st night. Does anyone know if Carnival has changed the 1st night policy or if it was just different because it was only a 4-night cruise?

What Carnival Brides said (i also got married on a carnival ship :))

There was a dance party the first evening. I think around 7 or 8?? And then right afterwards everyone was invited up to the kids club to view it and talk to the counselors.

We just got off the Dream 3 months ago and they were only open to sign the child up. (I later learned that they had some type of family gathering or something in a different area that night that we could have went to but didn't know about it). But to drop your child off at all...the answer is no. :(

On our last cruise, Camp Carnival did open at 10 p.m. (the for fee portion) the first night. We had pre-enrolled so we dropped off our paperwork, went to the family party, did Build a Bear and then at 10 p.m. the Night Owls program started so my son (6 at the time) stayed until midnight, no problem. However, as seems to be the norm with Carnival, YMMV.
