afcruiser Posted August 12, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 12, 2013 We plan on going to The Tampa Bay Brewing Company. It was featured on Diners, Drive ins, and Dive's. You can google and see the show. We're foodies to and I also love German Food. We found a great German place in Texas last year. Hubby ordered a burger and when he saw my plate of German deliciousness he said, "I'm letting you order for me next time." Need to write stuff down though. Can't remember the name of restaurant or even the city:p

Is a very good restaurant for authentic German food. The Tampa Bay Brewing Company is also a great choice. There are many restaurants in Tampa that have been featured on those travel TV shows. Also check out Datz and Yoder's Amish Restaurant! Happy Travels!
Capt_BJ Posted August 18, 2013 #4 Share Posted August 18, 2013 German Bistro ..... is there a French Gasthaus? I'm cornfused .... you say: Looking to eat somewhere local and authentic. So Tampa is known for German food? When I lived there I must have missed that .... If you want Tampa ethnic you probably want Cuban .... or Spanish ... and that means head over to Ybor City. If you want the easy out you want the Columbia http://www.columbiarestaurant.com/ybor.asp If you accept that Tampa is AMERICAN and want a GREAT meal then eat American at http://www.bernssteakhouse.com/ - ask to tour the kitchen and the wine cellar - get one big steak for multiple people - also enjoy the dessert room don't - be a wine snob and ask for the most expensive wine they have (I actually heard a guy do this one night ... it was a VERY funny discussion. No, he did not plan to spend $5,000 on a bottle of wine!!!!!) {I've had GREAT wines here for $30 a bottle ... just tell them your price range and TRUST} - skip the tours - miss the dessert room - pass up this place Bern's is a 4 hour experience if you'd like it to be . . .
