Moody gardens

Hello everyone! We got a good deal to stay at the Moody Gardens hotel the night before our triumph cruise at the end of the month. We will have a two year old and I am very interested in the attractions at moody gardens, especially the hotel and rain forest. We won't be getting in until 3 ish (with good traffic) and wonder if anyone has done either the aquarium or rainforest attraction and how long they took. We want to be able to enjoy them without rushing, and I'm not sure if we'll have the time! Also, any ideas on kid friendly dining near by?

Appears you live in Plano

and are probably driving.

Get up early early.

Try to come in earlier.

There is alot to do there and FUN FUN FUN.

Moody Gardens has transfer limo bus

to take you around island

to port restaurants, Old Town (strand), Post Office St. , Pleasure Pier

and back to Moody Gardens complex.

Staying there, you should have flexibility to use,

but based on time frame!

Flamingos on 61st

 

Check on times for fireworks at Gardens that are every weekend in summer.

 

Pleasure Pier on Seawall also has fireworks every weekend.

I wish we could leave earlier, and that we were able to stay for a couple of days! If you had to choose between the aquarium and rainforest which would you choose? Do they have the fireworks on Fridays?

 

I'm sure we'll go back down there again and will be able to do more, but for this time we have a bit of a time crunch.

You should be able to do both!

 

Both are good, you can't go wrong with either!

The rainforest just had a 20 million renovation!

But the Penquins are hard not to love!

 

Fireworks I believe so!

You should return in December. The do it all up for Christmas, they have a huge xmas light display and the rainforest and aquarium are open at night. It really is pretty cool.

That would be/is cool as well. I just cant remeber when MG starts their xmas light display. They might not overlap. But, if they do...winner winner chicken dinner.:D

At one time it started the Friday after Thanksgiving.

Perhaps they changed the date to earlier as the Galvez has the tree lighting festivities on Friday after Thanksgiving since 2008.

Ok, i never really paid much attention. I just cant get into xmas until AFTER Thanksgiving.:rolleyes:

 

Winte is the best time to visit the island in my opinion. No crowds and i can have a nice relaxing weekend on the beach including food for what one night would cost me this time of year.
