I am interested in all comments and experiences with Camp Carnival.

We are sailing on the Liberty, Feb 2006, with our 4 year old son.

I have read a multitude of carnival reviews, typicaly Camp Carnival will get one line in a 50 line review.:)

My Dd loved camp carnival ...

We did a Disney cruise 4 months before the Carnival cruise and she prefered Camp Carnival over the Disney Oceaneers Camp.

She said there were more things to do at the Carnival Camp. She found the staff to be interested in being there.

They dance, and do crafts, sing a longs... color a Carnival cruise t-shirt, karaoke, scavenger hunts, movies

They give the kids a little gift on the last night of the cruise.

Your children will love it.

DD loved Camp Carnival better then OC too. So did I. Although she liked RCI's kids club best so far.

The reason, on Carnival, the after hours time was mostly trying to get them to lay down and watch a movie. She always wanted to play. On RCI the kids could still do what they wanted.

Other then that, she has enjoyed it everytime she has been. Usually will go whenever she can and will almost always want to leave dinner early to go.

When are you sailing the Liberty in February?

I have camp papers for the Miracle as the counselors told us that actiivites are fleetwide. So take a look and see what activities your child will be doing. THe onl difference on the activity is the day and port.

my 7 yr old DD, seems to enjoy Camp Carnival a lot. Now she doesn't want to go all the time, because she thinks at 7 she has to be a bathing beauty all the time...LOL....Ok she can be whatever she wants!!!!

My son loved camp carnival on the conquest last year. He was 11 so he could check himself in and out. That made me nervous at first but we never had any problems. He would get up every morning and check the adult and kid capers every day to see what activities he wanted to do . (he had to make sure he made every bingo and horse race). He also went to the late night parties . When he was ready to come back to the room the counselors would escort him and make sure the parent was there to meet him. If we weren't going to be in our room he would stay at camp carnival until we told him where we would be. I don't believe they could sign themselves out of the babysitting service (after 10 p.m.)

Do they strictly check the ages - my son is very soon to be 15, and his best buddy that he will be hanging out the most with is already 15. and his 2 cousins are just 17. Will he be able to get into the 15-17 activities? Please say yes!

We have done 2 family cruises and several just adults.. both times with the kids we have used Camp Carnival and I cant say enough about them-- Our first cruise my youngest had just turned 5 and she loved it.. I couldnt keep her away from there!! Our daily ritual was to eat breakfast together and then she was taken to CC.. then we did our own thing and picked her back up at lunchtime.. we all ate lunch together and then when they opened back up she wanted to go back already.. so we brought her back and then did our own thing and then picked her up for dinner.. she did dress up on one of the formal nights and ate with the kids in her group and then they had a little dance.. she thought that was the best.. some nights after dinner she wanted to go back until 10 when she had to be picked up.. We just did our last family cruise in March and she is now 7.. it was the same routine again.. :) She really enjoyed it more this last time as she was in the next age group up and not with the youngest group... she wanted to do one of the sleep overs until 3 am.. I think your little one will have a blast..

camps are strictly enforced. mostly for the younger set. the 15-17 is a relativly new program this year. There will be a meeting the first night. Make sure your kids get to that. Have early seating for dinner too. It will help. As far as the activites..the teens tend to make their own activities.. I wouldnt worry.

About the strictness of ages...my son is 6 and my daughter 4, I wanted them together and the counselor told me that my son could go down to the younger catergory but my daughter could not go up.

My kids also LOVED Camp Carnival. They were 6 and 3 last year. As stated by others, we practically had to beg them for time with us. I kept saying "this is supposed to be a family vacation" and my husband finally said, "yes, and their wish is to go there"....so mommy caved. We did the arrangement of eating breakfast together, going to the pool together, eating lunch together and then they were free to go there for as long as they wanted. Well they had dinner with us the first night ONLY. The other nights, they wanted to go there because there was a pizza party or something going on. Even on formal night, they had their own "coke-tail" party as we had the captain's cocktail party. They still dressed up and everything and they loved it.
