wantocruisemore Posted August 26, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 26, 2013 I just looked up currency for Belize and it is the Belize dollar. The current rate of exchange is $1 US = 1.9899 Belize dollar. We're booked on a ship tour but would like to shop a little at and around port? Are US $ accepted? And if so, is a price posted in US or Belize $ or both? Rare crewsweeper Posted August 26, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 26, 2013 US$ accepted. In Belize City, outside the Tourist Village (tender pier), prices are in Belizean $, unless stated in both currencies. But just divide the Belizean price by 2 and you're close enough that most merchants will accept US$ in that amount. I seem to recall that inside the Tourisit Village port area prices are in US $. We never shop there but always have a beer and some small bite at Wet Lizard and we always pay in US $.
12reca Posted August 31, 2013 #3 Share Posted August 31, 2013 In the past, everybody accepted USD and yes, 2 Belize dollars are one US. That still seems to apply...
Prisc777 Posted September 14, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 14, 2013 Same for us, they all take USD 2:1....no problem.
