How early to check in bags at Long Beach

We are getting a shuttle from LAX to Long Beach pier for Carnival Inspiration. Can we check in our bags early, like 10am, then get the free bus to Walmart and do some shopping first? We fly in the night before but are staying at a hotel near LAX, so no real opportunity to shop.

No problem to check bags at 10am. I have checked them even earlier than that at Long Beach. I'm usually on the ship around 11:00am drink in hand.
