Essexlass2 Posted September 3, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 3, 2013 We are two seniors and will be in Lisbon from 8am to 5pm. Our plan is to get the no.15 tram from near the Alcantara dock to the Belem district and visit the Belem Tower (which we may not actually go into), Monument of the Discoveries, Jeronimos Monastery, Pasteis de Belem (yum!) and the National Coach Museum. If there is time, we would also like to make our way to Praca Commercio in the hope of being able to get the no.28 tram for a scenic ride before returning to the ship. We have two questions and would appreciate any help you can give us please - 1) Will we have sufficient time to do all that we hope as above? 2) Bearing in mind that we are seniors and I believe therefore entitled to some admission discount, would it be worth us purchasing a Lisboa card and, if so, where can we get one? We want to make the most of our short visit to Lisbon (and our first visit to Portugal too), so any help, tips, advice, suggestions, etc, will be much appreciated. hkto Posted September 3, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 3, 2013 1) Will we have sufficient time to do all that we hope as above? Absolutely, your Belem activities should be no more than 4-5 hrs, 28 tram - 30 min each way. Ask driver for Castello stop, it's nice view point to see Lisbon from above. Castle visit - up to you. 2) Bearing in mind that we are seniors and I believe therefore entitled to some admission discount, would it be worth us purchasing a Lisboa card and, if so, where can we get one? For 2 attractions + transit is probably not worth it. Lisboa Card for 24 hrs is 18.50€. You can buy transit day pass for 6€. Plenty of time to do all you want. Also not worth the cost to purchase Lisboa card. Make certain that you request the senior discount at the Coaches Museum (€2.50). Belem Tower is, IMHO, worth a visit inside. If you decide to visit inside, get the senior discount there as well (also €2.50).
