amandacolorado Posted September 4, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 4, 2013 How much cash do you carry onto the ship with you? 7 day cruise? Tipping room service? Casino? Getting off the ship? poison7fl Posted September 4, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 4, 2013 1. There is no right answer as to how much to bring unfortunately. Everyone is different... a lot different 2. I only bring cash, and I don't run out. I used to bring travelers checks, but not any more.
clcjdn Posted September 4, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 4, 2013 It would totally depend on both your casino budget and the location(s) where you are going. That being said, I always kind of feel with family vacations, I would rather bring extra cash so you can do that thing you wouldn't normally do or see that thing you really wanted to see, etc., as it would be a huge disappointment if you ran out of money along the way......... PittsburghGirlee Posted September 4, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 4, 2013 On a 7 or 8 day cruise, I take $1000.00 in mixed bills. I use my SnS card for everything that I can, including casino slots to get double the points on my Carnival Masercard. I then take what monies I come home with and put it towards my credit card. Because I am a huge casino person. sometimes I am ahead, sometime not:eek:.
kangaand2roos Posted September 4, 2013 #6 Share Posted September 4, 2013 I've seen piste here on CC many times, bring twice as much money and half as much clothing as you think you will need!
stlouistravelers Posted September 4, 2013 #7 Share Posted September 4, 2013 I usually bring $100 a day in cash and two credit cards. This has served me well on many trips.
jimdalva Posted September 4, 2013 #8 Share Posted September 4, 2013 We bring $700 for a 7 day cruise. $100 worth in small bills for tips and small stuff in port. We always use CCards and SS Cards first. We bring most of it home again, but we never miss out for lack of funds.
Jimmy Geegitz Posted September 4, 2013 #9 Share Posted September 4, 2013 ditto. $100 a day for length of cruise.
Mrs.C05 Posted September 4, 2013 #10 Share Posted September 4, 2013 DH brings $100 a day/night to gamble with. That's not counting any money we want to use for spending in the ports, which depends on where we're going. Normally though we take $100 per cruise port as well, just in case they don't take credit cards, but normally they do.
SmileEh Posted September 4, 2013 #11 Share Posted September 4, 2013 my fiance and I bring $100 per person per day so on a 7 day cruise $700 per person + $500 as a buffer for the both of us... at the end of the cruise if we have left over money we go down and apply it to our S&S Card in which we usually have enuf to pay both our cards off... by the time we get home we have a couple hundred to put back in the bank :-)
elliair Posted September 4, 2013 #12 Share Posted September 4, 2013 How much cash do you carry onto the ship with you? 7 day cruise? Tipping room service? Casino? Getting off the ship? What other types of payment do you bring or how do you get cash if you need it? We brought $500 cash with us. We don't go to the casino so no need for cash there. We buy T-shirts on shore, and we also have about $20 in one dollar bills for tipping room service. If we have a balance on our S&S, we pay it off with cash the night before we disembark. roswellmom Posted September 4, 2013 #13 Share Posted September 4, 2013 DH and I bring $100 per person per day for the casino and another $500 for anything else. We also use our S&S or CC whenever possible. That being said, if we lose all our casino money, we know we still have enough money for the other stuff.:)

askimdog Posted September 5, 2013 #17 Share Posted September 5, 2013 We have no need for money on board, we carry our own bags, so no need to tip porters, we bring our own drink so no tipping bartenders, we never use room service and don't go in the Casino. Now, in Port is different, the 3 of us cruise for Ports. Most of the time a 100.00 will do for the day, sometimes more. We always hit a liquor/grocery store for beer for the day (10 bucks), then we hit a food vender and grab food for lunch, then hit the road walking all around town. Sometimes we need to hire a taxi to get us out of concentrated areas ( in Cozumel we have them drop us on the wild side of the island, only to be picked up hours later). 90% of the time, a Port stop means hiking, geocaching, museums, local food vendors, visiting a school and or orphanage and chatting with locals. We tend to avoid A.I's, beaches, ziplines etc.. Really depends on food prices, not unusual to eat twice in Port and even bring back dinner. We are foodies, last Western Carib cruise lead us to: Mannish water, stewed cowsfoot, turtle, gibnut, guifidi, balleadas, urchin cerviche, octopus cerviche, sorel berry beer etc... stewpapa Posted September 5, 2013 #18 Share Posted September 5, 2013 That's an impossible question to answer Not impossible. The OP asked how much YOU take. That's very easily answered. We take $100 per day for the two of us. Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app

Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app Well it's different for everybody. I've taken anywhere from $1,000 cash for a 7-day cruise to $2,500. So yes it is a difficult question to provide a straight answer because everyone you ask is going to say something different
