rkaplan Posted July 4, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 4, 2005 We just booked a cruise for 1/23/06 and I went to Priceline this weekend to book a hotel for 3 nights before cruise and one night after and couldn't get anything. Is it to early?
doone Posted July 5, 2005 #2 Share Posted July 5, 2005 Yes, its probably too early. I am looking for a hotel room for 2/10/06 and have tried with no success. Keep trying, I seemed to have the best luck 6 months out on priceline. Please let us know how you make out.
petlover Posted July 5, 2005 #3 Share Posted July 5, 2005 I'm trying to book on pricline for 1/9/06 and so far have had no luck on Priceline. I guess we're all too anxious and will need to wait till late summer or fall.
FunCruiser56 Posted July 5, 2005 #4 Share Posted July 5, 2005 We too are sailing 1/23/06 , what ship are you going on? We did book our hotel and got the Clarion/Bayside for $98 a night. It is just a few min from Bayside market in Miami. I did book through the hotel website, not Priceline sine we needed 4 rooms, I did not want to chance we would not get all the rooms we needed. doone Posted July 6, 2005 #5 Share Posted July 6, 2005 Funcruiser, on priceline, you can bid upto 4 rooms. Whichever hotel accepts your bid, all 4 rooms will be at the same hotel.
FunCruiser56 Posted July 6, 2005 #6 Share Posted July 6, 2005 Doone- thanks for the info. For now we will keep the rooms at the Clarion and when we get closer to cruise time we will see if we can do better with Priceline. Funcruiser
doone Posted July 6, 2005 #7 Share Posted July 6, 2005 Funcruiser, that's what I would do, but don't count out priceline, you may get a better hotel for the same money, or close to it. Good luck.
our10th Posted July 6, 2005 #8 Share Posted July 6, 2005 I'm sailing on 1/7/06 and was able to get the Courtyard downtown for $55 on priceline. Seems like a pretty good deal to me - this was my first time using priceline.;)
doone Posted July 6, 2005 #9 Share Posted July 6, 2005 Courtyard's are usually pretty nice, I think you did very well. What star was this property when you bid?
petlover Posted July 7, 2005 #10 Share Posted July 7, 2005 It sounds like you did great! I've stayed at many and had excellent luck with both Marriott Courtyards and Holiday Inn Express throughout the USA. They all seem to be clean with a friendly staff. Congratulations on your first Priceline success!
Wennfred Posted July 7, 2005 #11 Share Posted July 7, 2005 Not too earily, book now, We are booked for March 2006 at the Holiday Inn out of Miami. This is a good website I got from someone here for Cruise Port Hotels good luck: http://www.cruiseporthotels.com/
doone Posted July 7, 2005 #12 Share Posted July 7, 2005 Wennfred, this is certainly a great site, and its a great spot to look at hotels, but you would pay alot more for these hotels through this site than priceline. Even though you cannot choose the hotel you want through priceline, I still say its a great deal.
our10th Posted July 7, 2005 #13 Share Posted July 7, 2005 Doone, I think that I bid just for the downtown area and the Courtyard was a 2 1/2 star. Looking back I probably could have gotten a little higher star if I'd have bid South Beach area - but who knows. I'm happy with the price since anywhere else its $179 for that night!:D
doone Posted July 7, 2005 #14 Share Posted July 7, 2005 Out10th, I certainly would be happy with that also.
cruznlobo Posted July 7, 2005 #15 Share Posted July 7, 2005 I've been trying to get a 3*, either DT or Beach in Ft. Lauderdale for late Jan./early Feb. Nothing but rejections so far. Last year I got our hotels for Jan. in March. Something I heard is that there is a Marathon race in Miami the 26th thru the 29th of Jan. This could be why hotels are hard to come by at a less expensive rate. Last Sat. there was not a room to be found in Miami or Ft. Lauderdale. When I checked on Tues., all hotels had rooms available.
