Half Day in Atlantis?

Opie

Recommended Posts

Our Carnival Conquest cruise stops in Nassau from 7am to 2pm. In the past when we've had a full day in Nassau we've gotten a room at the nearby hotel to get the wristbands. Is that worth it for a half day? We will have our 4-year-old and 9-year-old with us, as well as some 60-70 year olds. The Carnival excursions for a half day are around $150 pp. Ideas for the 7am-2pm window are appreciated. We'd consider something else as well.

Just came back Aug 26th. We did Atlantis but we had all day since our ship stayed in Nassau overnight. I would not recommend doing Atlantis for that amount of time in the Bahamas. The Aquapark opens at 10 am

Not only does the Aquapark open at 10am, but you would have to be in a cab going back by 1pm. Just not enough time to enjoy for that kind of $$.

Too much money for that short of a period of time. You can get a cab to Cable beach on Nassau or to cabbage beach on Paradise Island.

We prefer Cabbage beach. [less busy] It is 1/2 mile down the beach from Atlantis. There were plenty of cabs there when we were ready to go back to the ship. 2 chairs and umbrella came to $30. [prices were negotiable] There were people selling drinks on the beach. [too early for me to have drinks--but, they were doing a good business] People went to a hotel on the beach for the restroom.

I agree on the cost for time spent. If you want to enjoy the beach, just take a cab over to paradise beach right in front of atlantis, its a public beach and you can walk onto atlantis grounds, buy food and drink and enter the casino. Just cant use their recreation facilities.

Not true, all beaches are public, but only up to the high tide mark (which is along the waterline).

You can NOT use the chairs or beachfront, and YOU CAN NOT walk onto the Atlantis grounds or buy food and drink on the grounds near the beach and pools.

You CAN however enter the Atlantis thru the main doors and use the casino. But you can't wander the lobbies, access the grounds, lagoons, beaches, pools or facilities without a day pass. Security is stationed throughout the property checking wristbands. Security is also on the beach preventing non-guests from entering the grounds.

I'm sure some have successfully snuck onto the property. But that would not be easy, and it is trespassing, of course.

If you want to use the public beach next to the Atlantis, you can enter thru the public pathway next to the RIU. You can rent a chair and umbrella from the locals.

We've used the entire beach(no chairs) and walked in, sat down and bought food and drinks at atlantis during 3 different trips. Didnt even have a person look at me funny, and in fact didnt even know we were "sneaking In" unitl I read this response, we simply walked in. The only thing said to me was we dont take cash, credit cards or room charges only.

now you know. Others pay $80 pp to use the beach and walk around the gardens and pathways. Security must have been lax the day you were there.
