miss_rach Posted September 10, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 10, 2013 Will be in St Thomas on Carnival Sunshine for 8 hrs. Looking for a good spot to beach snorkel that has a resturant/bar (wife likes to relax at a bar while we snorkel). Also, need a place where a local bus/taxi will drop off and pick up. We don't do the excursions, found that its easier to have at it on our own and is much cheaper. Recommendations?
Neotericisis Posted September 11, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 11, 2013 I'm going snorkeling on my own in St. Thomas (most snorkeling excursions use a boat and the water is too deep for me to feel comfortable, I can swim but deep water makes me anxious :o). I wanted a beach I could grab a drink, rent a chair, snorkel, sun bathe, and basically do as I please and leave when I want. Sapphire beach seems to be it. Check out this thread- it looks like there is real coral, several types of fish, and you may even see sea turtles! The cab is $10/pp and is preset on the island. Also, you tube has several videos as well. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1755059

CaribbeanBound Posted September 12, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 12, 2013 It's St. John (no "s"). Trunk Bay and Cinnamon are both great. Take ferry from Red Hook.
