How Early Do Shops/Museums Ect. Open in Downtown Juneau?

Remember, the economy of Juneau, for the most part, is based on the Legislature meeting in the winter and on tourists in the summer. The shops know when the cruise ships are arriving and what times they get there.

As for "heading downtown"....depending on where the ship ties up, that could be as little as a 5 minute walk....

When I was in the planning stages I was told that the shops stay open as long as the ship is in port. We found that to not strictly be true, however. The "local" stores seem to keep normal store hours (i.e. 9 or 10 till 6:00) and the port stores (i.e. jewellery stores and those run by the cruise lines) seem to be the ones open later. If there are places you specifically want to go to, check the hours before you go and plan your trekking accordingly.
