Poker Games on Ships

Recommended Posts

I spoke to a few dealers on Voyager about this, and they said that Hold em won't be offered in the Casino anytime soon because 1 or 2 tables wouldn't be enough to handle the demand, and any more than that would take away from their money makers (slots and tables). However, they said they would have no problem with people calling together their own game. There was lots of interest on this last cruise but no one wanted to pull it together. If you are serious, bring chips!

You don't need to bring chips (they are so heavy)....either use cash or buy chips from casino. On our cruise last November we had a game going most nights, and every sea day. We used quarters and bills....but if we had wanted to be more uniform we could have exchanged our cash for casino chips.

If you are interested in the World Poker Tour tournments, the Mariner of Seas on Dec 11th, has its second cruise with real poker, it is played in the Convention Center on deck two, it has different price tournments during the week and open tables all week. It is played the same time as the casino is open.

I posted a thread a couple of weeks ago and people told me that I could get kicked off the ship for starting a texas hold 'em game and now I am reading that people are bringing their own chips on board and playing in the library...so which is it??

We were on Mariner last Spring, there was a hold 'em game every day in the card room, set up by a father/son.

There's really no reason to bring chips....if you want to use chips they are readily available at the casino cage, and you can always use quarters/paper money.....also available at the casino. I guess it depends on what your stakes are. :D

Using your chips would involve there being a "banker"... someone who is responsible for turning cash into chips and then chips into cash, and someone who is carefully watching the cash while the game is going on. So much easier to let people be responsible for their own money. :)

I have hosted poker games on the Navigator and the Monarch in the game room/library-no one had a problem with it. I walked around the casino the first night and let people know when and where, and several showed up!! Just don't make a big deal about it and no one else will either!!

Have fun and win big!!!
