bayou's dozen Posted July 6, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 6, 2005 So we've finally decided to book our first cruise. We were all excited until "Dennis" started churning. We're scheduled to leave New Orleans tomorrow 7/7 and return on 7/11. Has anyone else been in this situation? We have no idea what to do, cancel; wait to see what Carnival offers, et cetera. If you cancel you will lose all your money and will probably not be covered by any insurance since it was effectively your choice to cancel not Carnival's. bayou's dozen Posted July 6, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted July 6, 2005 We're waiting, as I write, to hear from Carnival on any decisions. Wish us luck and thanks for your advice.
mrsfuzzmo Posted July 6, 2005 #4 Share Posted July 6, 2005 Most likely, Carnival will not cancel, unless the storm will be hitting the port on the day of departure. It is possible, if that is the case, that they will try and get you all to a new port (though at this late date, that looks undoable). They will get you all onboard and then steer the ship around the storm. I would just go with the flow. Odds are you will not get to all your scheduled ports, but you may get to some others that were unscheduled. Don't count on anything to go as planned.....it would be fun I think. Sort of a "rough" cruise to who-knows-where. Take a little extra bonine along, as the seas will probably be a little more churned than usual, even if the sun is shining! Make sure to keep close contact with Carnival though for last minute changes. Keep us all up to date!
bayou's dozen Posted July 6, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted July 6, 2005 Thanks and everyone pray for us that we have a safe trip. Bonine and patches are all packed. With our group, we'll definitely make the best of the trip. Our worries are leaving our homes and family members behind when we could possibly be in the threatening areas of "Dennis". We escaped "Cindy" last night with no damage at all.
mrg0433 Posted July 6, 2005 #6 Share Posted July 6, 2005 Remember to drink plenty of cocktails. The more you drink the less you feel the movement--at least you won't remember it.
