14 Days until Carnival Liberty - Let me know what you'd like to try to answer for you

Recommended Posts

Well, we are officially 14 days away from sailing on the Carnival Liberty on July 20, 2005. Yes, we're excited. I'd like to thank everyone who helped refresh my mind about questions regarding Carnival since it's a while since we've been aboard a Carnival ship. And, thanks to all of you who answered all my "silly" questions. I'd like to help the people who will be sailing the Carnival Liberty in the future so.... Post your ship questions here and I will try to answer them upon my return on August 1...well, ok, let's be honest, it will more than likely be August 2 before I get online and back on this board.

Thanks everyone! Now how about those ship questions!

We are going in September. A zillion questions, but I'll try to be brief:

1. We are not using Carnival transfers from the airport in Rome; if you hear about any economical and efficient ways to get from the airport to the port that would be helpful

2. Of course, whatever shore excusrions you go on and hear about --good or bad -- is an absolute must!

3. How formal are formal nights: for men suits or tuxedos?

4. Is the reservations only dinner club worth the extra cost?

5. How is the piano bar entertainer; how are the shows?

6. Other than the tips posted on these boards all the time, any tips specific to the Liberty and/or Europe that we should know about?

Have a terrific cruise!!!!!!!

Thanks for being so helpful....here are some of my questions...

Is there a different menu set for europe compared to the other sailings?

Is there a water shuttle provided in Venice from the ship to St. Marks, if the ship is docked further away, or are you charged separately?

How is the Sea Kayaking shore excursion rated in Dubrovnik?

Does the ship move in for a close look of Mt. Etna in Sicilly as its sailing by?

Lastly lots of pictures please!!!

Thank you so much! You're awesome. I am so excited!

Hope you don't have any more than a couple of small gliches on your cruise--there's bound to be a few.

Good questions above--

What bands arre there in the lounges at night--especially interested in 4 or 5 man Phillipino bands with "Music" in the bands name--if they have one it should

be excellent.

How many midnight comedy shows are there?

Whick nights are formal nights?

Which night is the past cruiser party held?

Don't forget to try the fish and chips up on 10 for lunch--unbelievable on the Glory.

Also --Sushi bar down from the casino

Will be anxious to get all your feedback. I'm sure the ship will be A-1 and its crew. Oh yes--how did you like John Heald?--Thanks in advance.

Gary;)

We will be on Liberty September 18--------------cannot wait!!

We are interested in the excursions-length, money, etc. We are 2 adults-seems like private hires are best with several people.

Have traveled on CCL Spirit several times, so, if Liberty is anything comparable, you will LOVE it-------then we will, also. Enjoy-Enjoy-Enjoy every minute of your trip!!!!!! Looking forward to hearing your comments. Les and Barbara

We are on the Liberty end of September ( first time cruisers) so here are a few questions:

Shore excursions - Carnival or on your own - how were they?

Did you tender or dock at the ports?

Did the ship offer free shuttle service at any of the ports?

Do you think there was enough time in each of the ports?

Any ports you thought were a disappointment?

Any delays or itinerary changes?

How was the food? Did you try the specialty restaurant?

How was the embarkation and debarkation process?

When was the muster drill?

Okay, I'll stop now as I'm sure others will have alot of questions too.

Thanks for your feedback!!!

We are booked for May 2006 with our three children (16, 13 & 11)...so.... on top of all the other great requests above, I am curious about the facilities for kids....if you have a chance.

Also, booked in aft cabin #6489 should you just happen to be in an aft cabin yourself!?

Have a great time...absolutely cannot wait to start reading reviews of the Liberty.

Yes, we absolutely will take photos of the ship and ports! Yes, I'll write a review and cover as much as possible - I'll try to hop on line onboard and give brief updates if I can find the time! You guys are the best, you're high energy and excitement is getting me even more hyped about going! We leave Saturday July 15th so please try to post your questions by then!!

We're sailing on the Liberty in September. Can you take note of when the ship docks in Civitavecchia? We have an 11:55 a.m. flight out and I've hired a private driver to pick us up and would like to give him a better idea of when to be at the dock - Thanks - By the way have a great time!

Thinking of this cruise May of 2006. I would like to know the mix of international passengers to americans, were there many smokers and were there lots of children.

Also, if you know anyone who is doing the shore excursion from Livorno of the Tuscan Countryside and wine tasting I would like to know how they liked it.

Thanks

DD has deposited a 6 dayer for her honeymoon in Dec (she has cruised 3x b/4, most recent Victory 3/04). I would love to entice her with any cabin/menu/show info You can provide. Realize Europe is VERY differnt than carribean, I have the bad habit of sending her emails with various "trip tips" (ship deck plans, total trip budget, menu info, packing list, port info, excusion info) for several months before. Drove her NUTS for our 3/04 cruise.

Talked to her yesterday and she DOES NOT want me to send to intended. His loss!!!

By the By: My kids (26/30) refer to me as Mom, the TA for finding the deals on EVERYTHING, cruise, hotel, car, excursions. Learned when late hubby traveled 18 states for 18 months in the mid 90's and I found better air, car & hotel deals than the traditional TAs.

SanfranBayCruiser,

It is very kind of you to offer to help! We, (Me, DH, & DD(9),) are on the 8/13 Liberty but will be driving down to Italy on the 8th. So I should be able to see any info you post before we leave :D

If you can we would love to see Capers, including any info for Camp Carnival 9-12 age group.

Also we are thinking about Making a Reservation For Scarlett's (I think that is the name on Liberty) for the first night, is it open? Good idea Bad idea? I don't like the idea of not meeting our table mates the first night but I am afraid we might miss a preferred menu another night...make sense?

Is there anything you didn't bring that you wish you had?

Internet...hopefully wireless through-out?

Jus a tip.. Be sure to Mail yourself a postcard from each port becasue they are great for scrapbooks. Post offices in Europe are easily found.

Thanks again and have lots of fun!

Debarkation. What's the procedure [colors/"relaxed"/what]. About how long does it take to get from the ship to FCO. How busy is the airport/about how long before my flight should I arrive. Am trying to figure out what's necessary in booking air.

Thank you.

Thank you for your offer!

First off, I would like pics of the ship - especially the interior! And if you can get one (or more ) of an inside cabin with the beds pushed together I would appreciate it.

Also, can you find out if any of the pool areas will be adult only - sure would be nice!

Can you ask who the CD will be in February (if they even know?)

Also would like pics and a run down of the grills, pizza area and buffet areas - how long open, etc.

Thanks for doing this for us. I'll read everything you send us but I'm most interested in Wi-Fi and/or Internet Lab.

Are you taking a cell phone with you/if so, what company and did you have an international calling program added on? We have Sprint and I think it will be useless/have no contract so we're thinking of switching one of our phones to Cingular.

Most important, pics, lots of them. Will you be posting here on this thread or on your roll call?

Take care of the LIBERTY for us October cruisers:)

That's really generous of you to offer to answer our questions. I, also, want to know about the Wi-Fi access and where it will work. Carnival always says it doesn't work in the cabins but we're right by the bridge so I'm hoping we're close to the satellite.

Also, is there any way to get Euro's on board the ship? I hear the ATM's will dispense American dollars which won't do us much good. Most of our tours require Euro's at the end. If no place on board, are there ATM's close to the ports or in the ports?

As others have said, any info re: debarkation and time frames will help those of us who are catching a flight back the same day.

Hope you have a GREAT time and things go smooth! Please remember to get the name of the ship's groups coordinator from the front desk and an email address (if applicable) for the coordinator would be great!

Yes, I definitely vote for lots and lots of pictures (inside & out)! :-)

Also, menus would be great, unless they are different in Europe than the Caribbean.

Thanks for your help - have a wonderful cruise!
