using the shuttle from the airport in Amsterdam?

Has anyone used the Schipol Airport shuttle to go from the airport to their hotel in Amsterdam? How long did it take to get a shuttle and how long did it take to go from the airport to central Amsterdam (near Central Station)?

Have not used the shuttle but have used the trains from Schiphol to Centraal Station a dozen times. If your hotel is near the station, why not just take the train into the city? Many are nonstop (20 min) but even the stop trains take less than 30 minutes. Again, assumes your hotel is a short walk from the station once you're downtown.

 

As you may know, the airport train station is in the basement of airport's main terminal and there is a ticket office on the main level above the platforms, in Schiphol Plaza shopping center.

We have taken the train previously, but with more luggage we were thinking of taking the shuttle, just looking for comments. Thanks!

It depends on how many passengers, what hotels those passengers are in and in what section of town.

 

I think the shuttle will last between 45/60 minutes.

The shuttle will bring you to your hotel.

If you take the train you will likely have to walk/take a cab to your hotel.

The last time we stayed in the Leidsplein area where the Marriott is located we took Bus #197 (departs from lane B9 in front of the airport). It is equipped for some luggage and makes very few stops before Leidsplein. We were able to buy a ticket from the driver, and the price was 4 euro. Once you are off the bus turn towards the canal and you will see the Marriott. It is less than a block away from the bus stop. You can google "bus 197 Amsterdam" for more information.
