Anyone else receive a casino offer?

Not even sure if I kept the (snail mail) offer or not... I received it a couple of weeks ago with the offer of getting $1050 (or was it $1030??) in cash from the casino as an enticement to book - several sailings over the next year or so were offered.

I did not follow up on it as there wasn't an offer of a free or greatly discounted cabin included. We've sailed several times in free cabins (thanks to the casino) on Celebrity, Carnival, and NCL.

I was on the Carnival Freedom last month and stayed in a complimentary suite - with $1,000 in casino cash - having played A LOT of blackjack on Carnival ships. We've only sailed once with Princess (Caribbean Princess last Thanksgiving). Not sure if this is a result of that one sailing or the time I've put in with Carnival.

At any rate - has anyone else received an offer similar to this?

We receive the casino cash offers and are currently booked on Crown Princess in November. This will be our 2nd "casino" cruise with Princess but have been on Princess a few other times. My husband gets the offer from Carnival (but not as much cash as Princess) but I guess I didn't play enough to get them. I'll continue booking on Princess as long as they send these offers!

We received the casino VIP cruise offer...it is offering each of us a certain amount of cash, plus perks such as welcome aboard coktail party, complimentary beverages while playing, casino tournaments.

Must book by Oct 31st and they listed 11 different cruises for this offer.

We will be going on Jan. 25th on the Caribbean Princess which is one of the offered cruises.

Then why do I get casino offers (free cabins) on Carnival and not even a free drink on Princess?

On our one Princess cruise I was SHOCKED to be charged additional for the can of Sprite Zero each time I ordered a Grey Goose and Sprite Zero. They said it was because they did not have it in their soda gun and had to open a can for my drink. This happened in multiple locations on the ship, so it was not a fluke. I've never encountered that elsewhere (land or sea)! Can you tell that left a sour taste in my mouth? !

As an FYI, Carnival runs the casino operations of all the affiliated lines... so all that info is shared.
This is a little misleading. Of course, like each of the brand lines under the Carnival PLC Corporate "umbrella" all of the casinos can be said to be "run by Carnival". But that's not Carnival Cruise Lines.

I can't say anything about the other lines like HAL, but two things stand out about Princess. First, when calling the Ocean Players Club number, the maze has a separate choice for Princess (and only Princess). Second, when we were on the Crown in July and asked who ran the casino, the answer was that they are Princess Cruises Employees, not even employees of a third party contractor.!

Do we really know? Of course not... but there's some food for thought.

PS - I never get any mailings from Princess... as a US Citizan living abroad, I fall between the cracks of definition and interpretation of many things. But the Club has treated me well, and the casino Host, Manager and Floor people do right by me.

Tom,

That type of nickel/dime behavior also leaves a bad impression with me as well.

I did not receive the casino offer, although we do frequent the casino when we cruise every year. Just curious what level of play are you required to risk or commit to in order to qualify?

As for level of play, I'd say anywhere from small stacks of green chips to small stacks of black chips for a couple of hours/day gets their attention. The "willingness" to lose a moderate four figure sum also usually catches their eye.

On that one and only Princess cruise we took, I did pick up a few hundred in cage cash owing to some casino rebates I had on Carnival from a previous sailing - so there's enough of a connection between the two for that kind of behind the scenes transfer of funds.
