Harrison Caves in Barbados?

We enjoyed the Princess excursion that included the Harrison Caves when we did it a few years ago. However, we had spent considerable time on Barbados before then. Going to Harrison Caves would be a few positions below the top of my "to do" list if it were my first visit to that island.

We'll be in Barbados for the very first time next March. There is a Princess excursion to Harrison Caves that involves as much time getting there and back as it does at the caves. To those of you who have visited Harrison Caves, are they worth the trip?

We booked with Glory Tours, Best of Barbados Tour, includes Harrison's Cave, snorkle with turtles, green monkeys, etc. http://www.glorytours.org/fulldaytourspage.html

Through our cruise critic roll call we got a group (only needed 6) rate

Thanks to all 3 of you. I'm trying to decide whether to do a land based tour (including Harrison Caves) or one of the catamaran turtle viewing tours. As I said we have never been to Barbados.....

Which way is the best way to spend our day there: on land or at sea?

We enjoy doing a catamaran/turtle one more because we love getting out on the water in a cat. :D

Harrison's Caves is well worth seeing and we don't regret that we did it once. It's something different to do when you have cats planned for other port stops.

That's a very good point to consider, thanks! We will be doing a few water tours on other islands, so a land tour in Barbados is perhaps a very good option!

I thought they were pretty pricey..even after converting from BSD to USD...

We really enjoyed our tour with Glory tours that included Harrison Caves, animal sanctuary, lunch (very tasty local cuisine) and beach time. The caves are really well done with paved roads for the trams, lots of lighting and excellent, knowledgeable guides. We opted not to take our swim suits thinking, that after our previous day's full day at the beach, we would just enjoy an hour sitting and enjoying a cool beverage.... what a mistake.... it was so hot and humid, and the water so beautiful, we would have given anything to jump in and cool off! We slightly regretted not opting for a snorkel with the turtles, but happily we will be doing that in Jan. when we return to Barbados.

Hope you enjoy your time in Barbados whatever you decide to do.

Dianne
