mkmbfm Posted July 8, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 8, 2005 Can anyone tell me what to budget for snorkel rental equipment. We will be at Coki Beach in St. Thomas, and probably Cane Bay in Tortola. Thanks. Peggy
zydecocruiser Posted September 16, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 16, 2005 I think about $10pp per day would be a reasonable amount. Not always easiest, but I bring my own stuff along.
beachgal58 Posted September 16, 2005 #3 Share Posted September 16, 2005 hi peggy, i rented once, it was 8 bucks for fins. i always take my own snorkel/mask also. dont know where u r from, sports authority carries them, some web sites have them too. but u can buy mask/snorkel for a good price and it is yours, your mouth only is on it. if u r going to florida, any walgreens or walmart, heck, all over has them. if u go on an excursion, they will be provided. fins take alot of room but the snorkel.mask is ok. bplazo Posted September 16, 2005 #4 Share Posted September 16, 2005 We always bring our own. Just something about using used snorkel equipment!
Grayce Posted September 16, 2005 #5 Share Posted September 16, 2005 You could buy a set of gear (or at least the mask/snorkel) for what a few days rental will cost. Nicer to have your own snorkel.;)
Mask Posted September 16, 2005 #6 Share Posted September 16, 2005 Carnival sells the snorkels on board for a couple of dollars. Then you can rent the masks if you like. I agree, sharing a snorkel is not the cleanest of things to do.
elaineb Posted September 17, 2005 #7 Share Posted September 17, 2005 We also pack our own snorkle/mask as well. You can always just rent the fins. I like the dry snorkle - you can go underwater with it. Rental equipment usually is only the old fashioned type which you have to blow out - with asthma, that's hard for me! Bran8778 Posted September 17, 2005 #8 Share Posted September 17, 2005 I say go to a swimming pool store that has all their pool things discounted and bring your own. We always bring our own and it works out well. You dont have to worry about where they've been and the big thing you dont have to PAY to rent. cubdaddy Posted September 17, 2005 #9 Share Posted September 17, 2005 We bought 3 sets of dry snorkel, fins and mask at Sams Club on close out for $25 a set. We really wanted the dry snorkel and the ones you rent are not. If you have a Sams near you, check if they have any left.
