caviargal Posted October 9, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 9, 2013 We are departing on 10/18 from Civitavecchia and Trenitalia has announced that the strike scheduled for 10/8 is now taking place on 10/18. We are affected as we were planning to take the train to the port from Liguria that morning. I am now in the process of purchasing new train tickets for the 17th. I wanted to post in case anyone else is affected. I have been in Italy when there is a transport strike and it can be a mess, though the Italians are used to it and take it in stride. If anyone else is planning to arrive to the port by train or bus, please be aware of this strike and make alternate arrangements.
turnip eater Posted October 9, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 9, 2013 This was posted on another thread because of the impact on flights and air traffic control (ATC). The trains are on strike from 09.01 pm the evening of the 17th. BUT by a prior agreement some major services always run during a strike(!). Hopefully the ships will be able to dock! caviargal Posted October 9, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted October 9, 2013 Really more concerned about getting to the port than the ship docking at this point since this strike does affect our plans for pre cruise travel.:)
