papcx Posted October 10, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 10, 2013 Hi guys. A question for previous FO cruisers. As we have booked the lowest grade cabin (probably next to the coal boilers) the internet states our embarkation time is 15:00! Does FO stick to these times strictly, or is there a chance to get on earlier?

If you already know your cruise is boarding in deck order then there isn't much point in turning up much earlier than your time slot unless you are Gold level Oceans members. I'd plan to arrive 30 mis or so ahead of your slot and be prepared for them to be behind schedule :) They will call people by decks
Parsman Posted October 10, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 10, 2013 I wouldn't arrive more than an hour before the time suggested by FOCL unless you are an Oceans Gold member or are wheel chair bound. They are given priority.

Freecall Posted October 14, 2013 #7 Share Posted October 14, 2013 FOCL handles embarkation slightly differently than the rest of the cruise industry and does not board until relatively late in the day. Also, remember, there is no lunch on turn-around days although there will be a few snacks.
MaisieMoo123 Posted October 19, 2013 #8 Share Posted October 19, 2013 Looks like it's the pub then! Anybody know the nearest pub to the cruise terminal?

Also, remember, there is no lunch on turn-around days although there will be a few snacks. We are boarding in Southampton for the Balmoral and have a 1.30 pm boarding time. I was thinking that was very good:) We usually travel by coach (Cunard and P and O) so arrive about 2.00 pm or slightly later. When you say 'a few snacks' is that a limited buffet or just nibbles? Parsman Posted October 20, 2013 #10 Share Posted October 20, 2013 Shortly after you board the ship they will serve afternoon tea with sandwiches, scones, cakes etc. Should you want more you should have lunch before checking in.
