Buying alcohol in Marseille, villefranche?

Hey... I'm planning to visit marseille, Aix, Nice, Villefranche, and Monaco.

 

I'm a collector of alcohol of all kinds... and I've got a couple questions!

 

1. What kinds of alcohol is available here

2. WHERE can I purchase said alcohol :)

 

I'm looking for local stuff (things we can't get in North America!)

Cognac, armagnac and calvados are all French. You'll be able to find many more brands and qualities there that in the US. There are also marc and fine de Bourgogne (look them up) which are almost unknown here, and a few other regional marcs. Also, there are many French liqueurs, some regional. Google should help.

 

As to where to buy, you will have to look up wine stores at each place. Most wine stores are independent. Nicolas is a good wine store chain throughout France. They are also sold in supermarkets, such as Casino or Carrefour, but definitely not as many brands.
