Thomson Destiny

Recommended Posts

THOMSON DESTINY is the former SONG OF AMERICA.

Thomson is the UK arm of the German TUI AG, the largest tour operator in Europe. Thomson Cruises is the predominent low-end cruise line in the UK. Thomson Cruises' competitors are Ocean Village, owned by Carnival, and Island Cruises, owned by Royal Caribbean and Thomson's largest competitor in the inclusive-tour market, First Choice.

Thomson Cruises' other ships include THOMSON SPIRIT, formerly HAL's NIEUW AMSTERDAM, THOMSON CELEBRATION, formerly NOORDAM, and THE EMERALD, formerly Regency's REGENT RAINBOW and before that Grace Line's SANTA ROSA.

TUI also owns Hapag-Lloyd AG, one of the largest shipping lines in the world. In addition to their main business, Hapag-Lloyd Container Line, they also own Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, the leading high-end cruise line in Germany (equivalent to Seabourn, Silversea, or Radisson Seven Seas) - a very different market segment from Thomson to say the least. Hapag Lloyd's EUROPA is widely considered the best cruise ship in the world.
