Formal Night

On our recent Sapphire Princess cruise (7 nights) we noted the first formal night was the second evening out, as usual. But the second (last) formal night was not the next to the last evening (as we were use to) but a couple of nights before that (Tuesday or Wednesday, I don't recall which). This was also Captain's Night. Is this new -- not having the formal night the next to the last night out?

A lot of it depends on how many ports you have. On the cruises we have been on they usually are on a sea day. I do not think it is cut and dried as to when they are.
