Navigator out of N.O. - Balconies connect?

Hi,

I know whether adjacent balconies are allowed to be opened depends partly on the captain/itinerary.

Just trying to see if anyone knows when Navigator went out of New Orleans if they allowed the balconies to be opened?

We are thinking about going on her out of Galveston next summer.

Thanks!

Okay, thanks.

Bummer.

We cruise with a group of 10-12, and our favorite thing is happy hour on the balconies.

Guess I'll do another post asking for suggestions for group happy hour spots

Sky Bar is a nice place outside.

On Mariner and Navigator, the balcony dividers *can* physically be opened. However, it swings open like a door, and has to be attached to the railing. Most of the time, the Captain/Head of Housekeeping *do not allow* this style of balcony dividers to be opened "for safety reasons".

It is supposedly RCI's official policy that in no instance should balcony dividers opened, citing safety and security concerns. But, Freedom and Oasis class ships have balcony dividers that slide into itself (like sliding shower or patio doors work), and in these cases, requests to have the dividers opened are usually granted. It is generally left up to the discretion of the Captain and Head of Housekeeping to set the policy for each sailing (it may vary due to sea conditions, weather, etc).

When we sailed on Navigator we had connecting balconies. We asked to have them opened and were denied. I have heard it is only Freedom and Oasis class where they actually allow the dividers to be opened. They say it is a safety issue due to the way the dividers are constructed on the other ships.
