transit in Galveston?

Hi there. Just wondering if there is a transit system in Galveston? We will be staying there for a couple of days post cruise, in January and wondering if we will have to take taxis everywhere or if there is a transit system.

There is no trolley service on the Island, only buses.

Depending on where you are staying, your best mode of transportation will be by taxi.

Nothing is very far (Seawall to downtown) so won't be expensive.

The major better hotels have limobuses that will take you to major restaurants and tourist destinations. Tremont Galvez

San Luis and Moody Gardens all have buses.

Call your hotel and ask for clarification on nature and extent of service.

Carnival uses Terminal 1, Disney and Royal use Terminal 2.

It's actually in Pasadena. You really need a rental car if you're arriving in Houston, then spending a couple of days in Galveston, then departing HOU or IAH. It will also make getting around the island much easier, especially if you want to go to Seawolf, Moody Gardens and some of the beaches or locations away from the strand/Galveston port.

We drove around Galveston during our stay last summer and found it really easy to get around. Consider renting a car as an alternative to taxis.
