ahaught Posted October 28, 2013 #51 Share Posted October 28, 2013 You know what they say...If the beer snobs are here, the font snobs can't be far behind! C'mon, it's already been mentioned that it's beer geek, not snob.
quercus alba Posted October 28, 2013 #52 Share Posted October 28, 2013 We may be late to the game, but we just "discovered" Blue Moon Belgian-Style White Wheat Ale. And they had it on the Dawn. ;) An improvement, but I wouldn't expect it to keep the beer geeks "hoppy". ;)
SeaShark Posted October 28, 2013 #53 Share Posted October 28, 2013 C'mon, it's already been mentioned that it's beer geek, not snob. Disagree. When one likes a specialty brew, they can be a "beer geek". However, when they look down upon what others like ("swill", "CRAP", etc), then they become "beer snobs". madoris Posted October 28, 2013 #54 Share Posted October 28, 2013 From wikipedia, This word comes from English dialect geek or geck (meaning a "fool" or "freak"; from Middle Low German Geck). So I guess beer geek would also be correct.
luddite Posted October 28, 2013 #55 Share Posted October 28, 2013 Carnival also has it's own craft beer. Thirsty Frog Red AleIt's pretty good.:D What kind of draft beer might I find on a NCL ship? Thirsty Frog on the Carny ship isn't craft beer. It is AB's ale that they will put any label on. It's better than swill but it's pretty run-of-the-mill to a beer geek. luddite Posted October 28, 2013 #56 Share Posted October 28, 2013 How DARE you even suggest that OP should even be in the same BAR as the swill you offer... let alone drink it! Ahhhh. PBR. My beer of choice for lawn-mowing. When I cannot Schlitz. PBR on a ship would be a nice gesture but would require effort on their part. Don't confuse beer geek with beer snob. luddite Posted October 28, 2013 #57 Share Posted October 28, 2013 Well, it is brewed only for Carnival Cruise Lines. So perhaps an exclusive brand.:) Carnival's private label beer So back to my question. Are there any draft beers (good or not so good) on NCL ships? Pretty much no and no. triptolemus Posted October 28, 2013 #58 Share Posted October 28, 2013 Disagree. When one likes a specialty brew, they can be a "beer geek". However, when they look down upon what others like ("swill", "CRAP", etc), then they become "beer snobs". Pretty much this. Don't confuse beer geek with beer snob. See above. Pretty much like you did in post #2 and the OP did in #7. I assure you I am not confused.
stormynow Posted October 29, 2013 #59 Share Posted October 29, 2013 Used to make home brew, worst crap ever tasted. Is that a micro brewery?
montecarloss Posted October 29, 2013 #60 Share Posted October 29, 2013 How many different brands, types, of beer are there? 1000, 2000, 5000? They should just remove one level of inside cabins and build a giant cooler. Then everyone would be happy!
dasmonkey Posted October 29, 2013 #61 Share Posted October 29, 2013 As others have alluded to, it's all about retail space. I would like to see them bring back individual cartons of chocolate milk, or better yet, coffee milk. It was readily available on the Jewel last week. From Borden's no less. Talus731 Posted October 29, 2013 #63 Share Posted October 29, 2013 Loved reading this thread as I drink a cold Ninkasi IPA. I too would like an IPA while relaxing watching the ocean go by. But until that time I will enjoy my vodka while the hubby walks around with his bucket of coors light.
helpthejuggler Posted October 29, 2013 #64 Share Posted October 29, 2013 The chances of an IPA are 0% however here is the beer list available on most ships, so you have Sam Adams, Bass, Becks & Guinness for a touch of flavor. My eye is drawn to the promise of "Itinerary-Specific Special Selections". Sounds like what I was hoping for....but does the reality fall short of the apparent hints at some variety? Any feedback on these special offerings. Hope this is not shorthand for a bucket of the above beers

ColinIllinois Posted October 29, 2013 #72 Share Posted October 29, 2013 When did he get a beer named after him and why? It's a parody on Samuel Adams beer I believe by Dave Chappel. You can find it on YouTube.

TheDougOut Posted January 26, 2017 #74 Share Posted January 26, 2017 Found this thread that was from 2013 and wondering if the Jewel is now offering craft beer? Your best chance may be Lagunita's Little Sumpin' Sumpin' Ale. That was all I could find on the Dawn a few weeks back.
luddite Posted January 27, 2017 #75 Share Posted January 27, 2017 Found this thread that was from 2013 and wondering if the Jewel is now offering craft beer? The escape has a beer list, the other ships have a swill list. Prepare to be underwhelmed.
