Smiling Posted July 11, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 11, 2005 Hi, we are new to cruising and we know that we will have a safe in our minisuite on the Diamond Princess. Is there a charge to use it, or is it free? Does anyone know how they work on the diamond? Key, code, keycard? Thanks!:)
coiran Posted July 11, 2005 #2 Share Posted July 11, 2005 No additional charge for the safe - don't know about Diamond, but most others are a punch in 4 digit code. Ron

Just ret. from Diamond 7/2 and the safe is free. All you do is put your valuables in the open safe - punch in any 4 numbers on the keypad - and you are done. To open just enter your numbers. You can use the same numbers every time you lock or open it. Also each day you will receive a "fruit card", check what you want, (I always listed purple grapes because they were not on there)put it on your outside door knob and fresh fruit the next day. Free. The water, drinks in your room are not free. But you can bring your own because you have a refrig. Have an awesome time. gg
Pam in CA Posted July 11, 2005 #5 Share Posted July 11, 2005 Hi, we are new to cruising and we know that we will have a safe in our minisuite on the Diamond Princess. Is there a charge to use it, or is it free? Does anyone know how they work on the diamond? Key, code, keycard? Thanks!:)The safe is located in your clothing shelving (which you have in addition to the closet) and is digital. It'll be open when you arrive: you set the 4-number code every time you close it so that it's always secure. There's no charge to use it and every cabin has one. If for some reason you forget the code you've set, call the Pursar's Desk and they'll send a security officer who will open it only with you looking on. The safe will hold your jewelry, passport, money, etc. but is not large enough to hold a camera or laptop.
