Explorer of the Seas ? - newbie to RCL

Hi. I have never sailed on Royal before, but just booked the Explorer for next year. I previously cruised on Carnival and Norwegian. I have always heard that Royal is a notch or two better. Can anyone provide any input? When I look on RCL's website and see the different things on the ship, it doesn't seem like many of them are available on the Explorer's class of ships. I am curious about what food options there are. Is there a movie screen outside to watch movies under the stars? Also, how is the casino? Any other info would be greatly appreciated.

Explorer has not yet undergone her "revitalization". No outdoor movie screen.

The casino is a casino.

Food: Main Dining Room, Windjammer Buffet, Café Promenade are all complimentary.

Extra charge: Johnny Rockets, Portofino.

Room service: complimentary except from midnight to 5:30 A.M.

Regarding the "different things" to do on Explorer, Ice skating, rock climbing, in line skating, mini golf, sports court, very small indoor movie theater (the screening room). (Can't comment on the casino. To me, a casino is a casino. We always have fun in the casino on Explorer!)

The indoor Promenade was one of the big innovations for this class of ships as well as the ice skating rink. The Ice shows are amazing. The Promenade is filled with shops and pubs/bars. They have parades down the Promenade that are entertaining. We were on the Explorer in March and while the ship is older and is getting close to that revitalization date, the ship is still in great condition and the crew was fantastic.
