Breakaway vs Liberty of the Seas Question

My husband and I have cruised before and we are thinking of bringing our 32 month old daughter on a New Years Cruise leaving from NYC on the Breakaway or Liberty of the Seas leaving from Florida, this would be our daughters first cruise. She is not potty trained as of yet, but might start working on it. Breakaway looked easy for us since we are in NJ and we wouldn't have to pay for airfare but now I am concerned about the weather leaving NY and during the cruise and about the mixed reviews of the ship. Wanted to see if anyone had any opinions about this ship and itinerary or should we just suck it up and fly to florida and take the liberty of the seas cruise.
