We booked this hotel for our upcoming cruise in Feb. $150.00 for the room, full breakfast, parking for 1 week, shuttle to the pier and back to the hotel when you return. For the price I think it's a good deal, and i think you cant go wrong.

It's a nice area...but it's clear on the other side of Long Beach...and Long Beach is a big city (population of half a million)...

If you have a car, it's okay...

For anyone just visiting the area and having a little time for activities, restaurants, shopping, etc., it is nowhere near the Aquarium, Queen Mary, Pike, Shoreline Village or the cruise terminal...

And that's a long shuttle ride back and forth to the ship...

Thanks for the replies, we are flying in and need a place to stay the night before our cruise and since they have a restaurant and bar figure this might fill the bill.

If you are flying in (to LAX?) and have no car and cruising Carnival, I really recommend staying in the downtown/Convention Center area of Long Beach, NOT at the Golden Sails...

Look at the Hyatt, Westin, Renaissance or Hyatt at the Pike for the absolute nicest hotels and, by far, best location...it is even well worth paying a few more dollars to stay at one of these...If not those, look at the Hilton, Maya Doubletree, or Residence Inn Downtown...

If you need to be on a strict budget, try Pricelining the Downtown Long Beach area with 4 stars...you will likely do better than the Golden Sails that way...

These hotels put you in the Best area of Long Beach to be in as a cruise tourist...lots of restaurants, shops and attractions...and close to the pier..

How about the bestwestern hotel on Long Beach Blvd? any better than golden sail?

Worse. Ugly surroundings. Busy traffic. Metro train goes right by the hotel. Muffler shop next door. Not a great neighborhood.

Do yourself a favor. Don't look for extreme bargains in Long Beach. Stick to these hotels:

Hyatt, Westin, Renaissance or Hyatt at the Pike...Hilton, Maya Doubletree, or Residence Inn Downtown...If you really want a Best Western, the Best Western on First Street is much better located.

If you need parking for the cruise, contact the Maya Doubletree or the Hilton and ask for a "Carnival" rate that includes parking for the week.

You will be SO MUCH HAPPIER staying in one of these hotels. Start off your cruise vacation right...with a nice hotel in a good neighborhood...

It is well worth spending a few dollars more...

Hate to tell you, but Carson is in an industrial area.
