cruise4funwi Posted November 5, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 5, 2013 I have been unsuccessful finding information on Porto-Vecchio, Corsica & the surrounding areas. Does anyone have any information they can share relative to exploring this area on our own? We will be docked from 8:30am to 10pm and the cruise excursions (Azamara) are very limited (all start in the morning and last for just 3.5 - 4 hours). We would like to explore Bonifacio. Is this an area we can get to on our own, reliably? Or would we be better served taking an Azamara excursion even though it's for such a short time. What else to do when there? Is there anything in Porto-Vecchio? Thank you very much!
cruise4funwi Posted November 5, 2013 Author #2 Share Posted November 5, 2013 One more point of note, we will be in this port on May 1, 2014 and it's my understanding that is a Holiday. What can we expect to be open/closed (in terms of shops/restaurants/sights)?
cinnamon Posted November 23, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 23, 2013 We too are on this sailing. Have just started looking at tours due to the deadline for getting 25% discount on ships' tours. We do have a small Roll Call.
cinnamon Posted November 23, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 23, 2013 PS Please come and join the Roll Call. I just posted there again so it should be near the top for a few days.

Can't tell you what will be closed/open in your port, but 5/1 is a biggie in Euope and most stores and a lot of restos will be closed so be prepared for that.I have been in small places as well as large cities and so much was closed all over.
