Ship sponsored excursion tickets

I apologize if this should be on the "Cozumel" board. We're looking at going to Playa Mia in Cozumel with our son who is 3. If I book through the ship, it's $85, but kids 5 and under are free. If I book independently, It's $60 for me, but $50 for our son. So, it looks the best value is for me to book through the ship for me and my son, and the other adults in our group go through the independent.

 

My question is, when are the excursion tickets delivered? If they're delivered the night before, my plan works perfectly because we can just all go as a group in a cab and we just won't take the ship's transportation.

If you pre-book the excursion you will get the tickets the first day of your cruise.

 

Also, if you are going to take your own transportation, you should still check in with Carnival's excursion people so they aren't waiting for you.

I would book with Carnival. When we were there last time we were late getting back and the ship was waiting for us.
