LambKnuckles Posted November 17, 2013 Author #101 Share Posted November 17, 2013 Beef Stroganoff, from the Comfort Food selection! Roger's salmon Nana's veggie enchiladas, from the lo-cal selection... This dessert needs no introduction!!! ...and My MOSTEST FAVORITEST... Bitter and Blanc!!!! Nana's sugar-free selection -- I forgot it's flavor... but she ate every bite!!!!
LambKnuckles Posted November 17, 2013 Author #102 Share Posted November 17, 2013 and Tiramisu -- did I spell that right??? And here's our towel animal when we came back from dinner that night!! (Nana said it looked like Schatzie, her dachshund, looking down from a perch!!! but then realized it was a bat. And coming from Austin -- we KNOW bats!!!) LambKnuckles Posted November 17, 2013 Author #103 Share Posted November 17, 2013 As I said before, each night, Nana was tired after dinner, so we didn't go to any of the shows... But tonight's was Dancing with the Cast at 7:30pm... Kind of hard for the early diners to get to and for the late diners to stay through... But at 10pm, at the Beach Pool, there was the RedFrog's Caribbean Beach Party... I don't want to miss this, next time on the MAGIC!!! So, waking this morning, to see the sun rise and see MoBay, Jamaica... Montego Bay... It's windy... but I put on my bathrobe and scarf and headed out into the BREEEEEEEZE... No sun yet... We don't get into Jamaica till 9am... so it's not in view yet... but I keep looking!!! I did find the moon... Then I realize there will be no "real" sun rise -- but a sun rising above the cloud bank... There is rain out there between us and Jamaica!! LambKnuckles Posted November 17, 2013 Author #104 Share Posted November 17, 2013 Now, I see evidence that's it's getting closer to showing it's face... Then I have to run back in because I start to feel little drops, then bigger drops on my head!!! ...and she's up...

LambKnuckles Posted November 17, 2013 Author #107 Share Posted November 17, 2013 Thank you for the weather report. Are the sunrise pics taken from secret deck ? I cant wait to see the ports :}:) Deck 10 forward... Yes, the "wind" sign was on the "secret doors." And ours was one of only 6 cabins with windows onto this deck... LambKnuckles Posted November 17, 2013 Author #108 Share Posted November 17, 2013 Thanks for the review and for sharing your pictures. My only complaint is that you are making us all wait too long for your complete review! I know, I'm so sorry. I hope to get through Jamaica this afternoon... thank you for your patience and reading! :o
LambKnuckles Posted November 17, 2013 Author #109 Share Posted November 17, 2013 Now it's time to find some coffee and then breakfast... and maybe some fruit... Or pastries... Here's the menu from the grill... The on and off rain continues a bit while we continue to sail to Jamaica -- but the weather in port is absolutely wonderful -- if not too hot and humid!!! Having a cabin on Lido deck -- and that being where the buffets are -- has been on of the best assets of this ship!!! With Mom in a wheelchair, it is such a smooth and easy process to get her to a beverage, while waiting for the MDR to open.
LambKnuckles Posted November 17, 2013 Author #110 Share Posted November 17, 2013 However, today, being a PORT day -- the MDR is open for breakfast and back to the breakfast only menu!!! MDR times are 7am - 9am... And breakfast... an omelet, potatoes and bacon... Nana's eggs benedict with the Canadian bacon/ham on the side... And for me, two eggs over easy, with turkey bacon and French toast...
LambKnuckles Posted November 17, 2013 Author #111 Share Posted November 17, 2013 Now, let's go see if we are getting close to Jamaica... Ahhh... we're here... were stopped... And the first wave is debarking for excursions... And looking out to the sea, I see another ship, must be passing by on her way to Ocho Rios, on the other side of the island...
LambKnuckles Posted November 17, 2013 Author #112 Share Posted November 17, 2013 As it turned out, it was the Eurodam -- on an around the world cruise -- and Ocho Rios was too windy to port, so she came around to share the port with us... making it a crowded port... She docks in an industrial area and has to use vans to bring the guests around to our terminal... Yep, pulling into port is smooth and easy. This is port for one ship, and has a nice terminal. There is no air conditioning in the terminal, but most of the little shops have their own a/c. The liquor store in the terminal is easy and has competitive prices. The spice, coffee and Tortoga Rum Cake store is convenient, too! This is where Nana and I will go -- but we'll let the excursions and tourists off first. Then the terminal won't be so hectic. Also, if you go to Jamaica and want to do it on your own, for shopping and seeing the "downtown" and local area, you can take the Hop On Hop Off bus to the Hip Strip... It's $19, but you don't pay in cash... it's charged to your Sign and Sail card! You have unlimited on and offs all day long. We port here till 5:30 -- so you have plenty of time!!! LambKnuckles Posted November 17, 2013 Author #113 Share Posted November 17, 2013 We don't stay long in the terminal -- it's very hectic and hard for Nana to maneuver in the crowds. So we head back to the ship and head up to the Serenity Deck and water works... The elevator to the Serenity Deck will hold one person and a wheelchair -- most people will take the staircase that goes around the elevator... While Nana is sunning and reading for a bit, I head over to check out the slides... YIPPEE!!! They're open and working!!! I go get Nana to tel her we should go -- she says YOU go, I'll watch!!! LambKnuckles Posted November 17, 2013 Author #114 Share Posted November 17, 2013 So, I head down to get my bathing suit and back up to do the slides of my life... When I get back up, I take a couple shots of the view... Good... the crew is running safety drills -- if the slide breaks and I go over the edge... at least they are in position to come right over and pick me up!! AND... it gives me perspective as to how high I am, and readying to climb higher. Let me hand Nana my camera to hold -- and I'm off... This orange slide is FAST!!! But first I have to climb up the stairs to get there... No glasses, no flip flops... Once up there, I have to decide which slide to go down... The blue and yellow made me dizzy and the first time I went down... it seemed to go on forever, just speed and turns...
LambKnuckles Posted November 17, 2013 Author #115 Share Posted November 17, 2013 How can it be lunchtime already?? But it is!! Nana "demands" a Ruben... It's good exercise. The ship about 1000 feet long -- that's about three football fields... We're on the bow, and the Deli is on the Stern... I have to walk back and forth... (I should have worn my pedometer. I'll bet I'd surprise myself with all my walking!!!) Her Ruben being made... ... and one for me, too... Doesn't he have a delightful smile!!! He's from India. We talk a bit while he's making the sandwich...

LambKnuckles Posted November 18, 2013 Author #118 Share Posted November 18, 2013 Nana decided to take a nap after lunch... just relax in the cabin -- so this is my time to explore the ship! I wanted to walk Deck 5... outside. The deck goes all the way around. I have never been on a carnival ship where I could walk all the way around a deck, lower than Lido. So I take the forward elevators down to 5. When I get off, I don't see an immediate way out, so I walk forward, towards the entrance to the Showtime Theatre, and now I see a side door!! Once on the deck -- I start my trek! Seeing the bridge above and the Eurodam straight ahead... I know I'm walking towards the bow. As I round the bow, I see some men setting up tables. I found out later, they were setting up a private party. Now facing the center of the bow... There's the bell on the Crew Beach deck... Now I see a staircase -- this must lead up to Deck 6 and its secret door... And turning now towards the aft on the starboard side... I see down the ship... LambKnuckles Posted November 18, 2013 Author #119 Share Posted November 18, 2013 And walking a bit farther, I turn around to see the bridge again. There's that glass window in the floor of the bridge! And a bit farther... and chaises to relax and read and just soak up some sun!!! And an outside shower if you get too hot or before you go in the hot tub that juts out on the side... Let me get past this and turn around. You can see the steps up into the hot tub. A bit farther -- and I'm to the Oceanside Barbeque. It's closed since this is a port day, not a sea day... Turing around, you can see the Lanai is set up with tables and chairs for guests to bring their coffee and books and drinks and games...
LambKnuckles Posted November 18, 2013 Author #120 Share Posted November 18, 2013 And their outdoor barbeque/kitchen for the Oceanside Barbeque... Once past the Oceanside Barbeque, I see the rounding to the aft... Looking up, dead center on the aft... I see the flag... Now on the other side of the aft, I round the port side... And peeking in the windows, with my camera right on the glass... I can see the Prime Steakhouse...
LambKnuckles Posted November 18, 2013 Author #121 Share Posted November 18, 2013 And more chaises for sunning... And if you're sunning and it gets too hot... The outdoor entrance to the Red Frog Pub... And all the tables for the Red Frog Pub... But, this swinging table and benches is just wonderful!!! I had to get a close up. Wouldn't this be great in the backyard, in the evening, with a cool beverage and some friends? They were starting the Bean Bag Challenge, so I walked passed and then turned around to get a shot of the Lanai and hot tub on the port side... LambKnuckles Posted November 18, 2013 Author #122 Share Posted November 18, 2013 More chaises and sunning options farther on... Another hot tub and shower... And once I pass the wind breaker walls... I'm back to where I started!! I hoped you enjoyed your tour of Deck 5... Next... the Fun Hub / Internet Café ... and how to log onto the FunVille site of Carnival, if you want to post, for free, so the folks at home can chat with you! LambKnuckles Posted November 18, 2013 Author #123 Share Posted November 18, 2013 I love the opportunity to be able to stay n touch with the folks back home! I like that there's a way to do this for free. Before the cruise, go to the Carnival site, and get into the Forums at their Funville page. Click on Currently Onboard. These are the threads where you post. You must be registered to post here, but that's easy and free. Just click on Join, and follow their instructions. While on board, you can either go to the Fun Hubs -- or use your laptop, tablet, Kindle from anywhere... I showed you a Fun Hub on lido Deck, by the forward elevators... but they are everywhere. This is the Deck 5 main Internet Café.... So,pick out a computer and find this screen... it should be waiting for you! I had lots of problems with the clicks fromthis screen, So I just went up the corner and typed in the carnival dot com address and hit enter... Then, the screen we all see from home comes up and we access FunVille the same way... Under plan, click on Forums, From this page, go down the page to User Groups, then click on Currently on board... and you're in!!! But REMEMBER, log in, sign up and create your page BEFORE the cruise. These computers are not fast... they are S-L-O-W!!!! You'll be here forever if you wait!!! Also remember, this is NOT a chat room, it's a forum where any one and EVERY one can read what you write -- however, not many do unless you've told them how to... I posted daily with a update of what we'd been doing. And looked to see if my DD had any messages or my co-worker... There were not emergencies from home -- and just friends checking in to see what we were up to!!! These stay on forever... or I guess, almost forever... mine was titled: Lambie's on board for some Halloween MAGIC!!!
LambKnuckles Posted November 18, 2013 Author #124 Share Posted November 18, 2013 Lambie, Loved the pictures. Looks like Nana had a great time too. She is blessed to have you. Mama Tortie!! How great to see you!!! We really did have fun on this cruise. I'm taking her on the Triumph in January for her 89th birthday!!! It'll be two weeks before her birthday, but she doesn't mind -- and I have some friends who are cruising on the 18th! We haven't cruised together since Blogger's 2, have we? WOW!!! I hope to see you again and cruise!!!
LambKnuckles Posted November 18, 2013 Author #125 Share Posted November 18, 2013 Oh,what SPECIAL memories you are BOTH making to hold to in your heart! How I envy you! :):) Daddy's been gone for almost 19 years and I have silly and fun memories of him -- but more childhood ones and early adulthood... Howard's been gone for almost 9 years and I have great memories of our marriage and life together. But I love creating these memories with Nana... They are later in both of our lives and at a point where I have kind of become a Mommie to her... and we're having such FUN FUN FUN!!! Thank you!!!
