This is my first trip to Alaska and I have booked Chilkoot for Skagway. They offer a dog carriage ride as an extra. Is it worth the money? Thanks, Cathbi

I can't tell you if it's worth it for you, but it was for me. I have always had a thing for sled dogs, and I really wanted to do it. I couldn't afford the helicopter ride to do dog sledding on a glacier, so this was my next best option. It is a relatively short ride, but I enjoyed it. I still want to do a real sled on snow at some point but don't know if I can come up with the money or courage to fly in a helicopter. Maybe I will just have to go to Alaska in the winter some day.
