Right now the Epic is in the Eastern Caribbean, not Western. So you'll have to look on your eDocs to see if it's a tender port or not.

When you disembark, you can usually start getting off the ship around 7:30 barring there's no complications with customs, etc. You can self-disembark, meaning you keep your luggage the night before and carry it off the ship yourself. Or you can get colored luggage tags at guest services and disembark according to the time you want to get off - you have to put your luggage outside of your room by midnight the night before you get off.

When the ship returns back home, you can take your own luggage off or have them do it. There is often a huge line of passengers waiting to get off with their luggage.

If you have NCL take your luggage, there are so many bags in the pick up area (way more than you see on an airplane), it is wise to have your bags marked with something unique and easily recognized. And... if you do this, make sure that you carry your own "important" stuff off yourself (just like you should take those items yourself when you board)

Anybody just back from the Epic?

Are the islands, Costa Maya, Cozumel and Jamaica tendered or docked?

When the ship docks at 7.00 am what time can we get off the ship and do they allow you to take off your own luggage?

Thanks for any help you can give me!!!

All 3 have been docked when I've gone to those places on NCL (not Epic), but check your docs, sometimes things change if there are lots of ships in that day.

If you want to get off the ship early, go to the gangway area (almost always seems to be deck 4) about 20 minutes before the scheduled arrival time. You may have to wait a short while as they setup the security and gangway, but you will typically be off the ship among the first passengers and on your way. If it is your first stop of the cruise, expect a bigger crowd, but the early arriving crowds seem to dissipate as the week goes along.

Yes, you can take luggage off, however it may be subject to whatever import measures are in place in that country if you plan to leave stuff in country - for example in Honduras we had to fill out some paperwork and have our stuff reviewed (donations for an orphanage).

Good luck!
