I wanted to make certain that anyone that is thinking about a cabana on Mahogany Beach beware of an issue that we experienced. Prior to our cruise on November 16th, Caribbean Princess out of Galveston, I researched the cabana's in Honduras. There were several people that said that they encountered issues with people renting the cabanas and filling it with excess people. According to most of the posts on CC, security took care of the over crowded cabanas without problems. We decided to invest $250 for a day of relaxation and no crowds. However, that was to change.

We arrived at the cabana and it was lovely. The max number of people in each unit was to be 4 (four) people. Shortly after our arrival a family of 11 (eleven) people with children arrived in the unit next to ours. They were loud and obnoxious, calling out to each other from the porch of the unit all the way to the beach. Their air-conditioner didn't work in the cabana and therefore there was all sorts of activity around our beach area with service men trying to fix the cooling. Finally, they moved them to another cabana...however, with all the children and loud talking we decided to talk to security. The on-site security rep said it was ok that there were 11 people in one cabin...we explained that the max was advertised at 4...we discussed it again with him after about an hour then my husband asked to speak with his manager. He talked with him and he was told it was not a problem with management ...so we left (also, our air conditioner didn't work either and we had a unit filled with repairmen for about an hour).

We talked to two other couples that had rented units that day and they, too were frustrated. We all figured that the family with the excess visitors had paid the security guards to look the other way and allow the extra guests. If it is your desire to relax in a quiet and cool area, it may not be a good use of funds.

Sandy, as a matter of fact, we did voice our concerns while on board and were told that it would be investigated. We heard nothing from Princess. After we returned home and received the questionnaire from their corporate office, we detailed the issue with Princess via the website....still no feedback or explanation. I would NOT advise renting the Cabanas in Honduras unless you are more tolerant than we are to rule-breakers. That was a lot of money for us to spend hoping for quiet time, to have so many people in the area was disconcerting and no one to remedy the situation was frustrating.
