mackatty Posted November 15, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 15, 2013 (edited) Not sure if "base" rate is the correct terminology but curious as to what the lowest rate (before port charges, taxes, etc.) is you have ever seen/paid for a basic balcony room. I'm going to FINALLY be able to book my January cruise in 2 weeks & am curious if there is any chance to see balcony rates lower than what I'm seeing now. :D ETA: Should have specified - on a 7 day Caribbean cruise (E or W) out of Florida Edited November 15, 2013 by mackatty
KenMo Posted November 16, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 16, 2013 (edited) We sailed Liberty in Sept in an 8B. After price drops, we paid $559pp and had $290 in OBC. We booked ES. Edited November 16, 2013 by KenMo

I see a $549 balcony rate on Liberty for FL residents & figured that was about as low as I can expect. Thx for the info!
Rare PaddleAddict Posted November 16, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 16, 2013 We paid $549 for our recent Breeze cruise balcony (6 day cruise). We could have chosen a balcony guarantee for $
Cmildenb Posted November 16, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 16, 2013 We paid $396/pp for our cove balcony on a 6 day breeze tour in Jan.
mackatty Posted November 16, 2013 Author #6 Share Posted November 16, 2013 Good rates for the Breeze! Just don't know if I can "settle" for a 6 day cruise when I don't know when my next one will be. ;)
Carnival_Brides Posted November 16, 2013 #7 Share Posted November 16, 2013 I saw the Splendor for $399 a couple of weeks ago. However, you'd have to be willing to sail from New York in the middle of winter. The lowest one I've booked is $459pp for a 7 day from Baltimore--also the middle of winter. Star1 Posted November 16, 2013 #11 Share Posted November 16, 2013 (edited) We have on the Liberty 12/14/13 an 8C rate is $412 PP base price. 7 days Western. We have a $63 OBC too from price drop and reduced taxes that we paid. Now if only we could get this rate again next year. Relax and enjoy life. kat228 Posted November 16, 2013 #12 Share Posted November 16, 2013 We paid $569 for a Dream Cove Balcony that left 11/2/13. Florida Resident Rate. The one that leaves this week was lower, I think $539, but I'm not sure.
Gingee Posted November 16, 2013 #13 Share Posted November 16, 2013 Wow I must cruise at the wrong time of the year. Although our cruise came down $600 this past year.

cruzinmamaTN Posted November 16, 2013 #15 Share Posted November 16, 2013 I think anywhwere from $350 - $500 for a balcony on a 7 night is a fantastic deal.. of course, it will depend on ship, port, itiniary, and time of year. I've paid up to $1400pp for a "regular" OV balcony on a competing line's "mega ship".. during Hurricaine season to boot... it was a great experience, but I won't pay more than $800pp for a balcony again.. the deals are out there, you've just got to do your research! Xmansmom Posted November 17, 2013 #16 Share Posted November 17, 2013 For our upcoming cruise I paid $175/pp for a 7 day with a balcony but it was a special mailing that I got for that price. Previously on the same cruise we paid (I think) $329/pp for 4 of us.
Moz Posted November 17, 2013 #17 Share Posted November 17, 2013 Where are you people getting these rates. We qualify for senior, past and military and have never seen rates like this is it only for people who live in Florida we never have resident rates up north. Perhaps they only want Florida people on their cruises. Have to plan for a cruise with air etc so need to book at least a few months ahead. This was sort of unnerving to read when we have paid so much more after much planning.

But we always book ES if it's available. With ES, you can price match to the other rates you qualify for up to 2 business day before sail. After final payment date is when we've received the most price drops and end up with OBC.

These also may only be available for a few days to book. If you get on some email lists for the cruise deals you probably will see some of these deals. Most people have to use flights for getting to cruises- which may eat up, plus some savings, with late booking flights.
goofytoo Posted November 17, 2013 #22 Share Posted November 17, 2013 $344.00 per person for a cove balcony on 6 day Breeze in January. This is based on 4 people. It would be a lot more if only 2 people. I am eyeing that suite though. It is only $532.00 per person.

Often they have to give the "sale" a name, so it appears that way. There are times a rate goes down close to sail date if they want more cabins filled, and then depend on the on board spending for revenue.
mackatty Posted November 17, 2013 Author #24 Share Posted November 17, 2013 We are FL residents but it will only be two of us, so I was wondering if it was at all possible that we could find a balcony cabin the week of/week before MLK holiday for $499pp. I won't be booking until Black Friday (aka payday), so maybe I have a chance. Would LOVE to tell the hubby we have an inside (like we expect to) & be able to surprise him with a balcony cabin.

What ship, Can you email me details that show that amount because Ive not seen anything close to that ever! I paid 554 pp for 7 day on Dream in January 2014. that was Casino rate and they usually have the best rates. So you got a outstanding deal!
