Big2Little4me Posted November 17, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 17, 2013 My husband want to play slots on our upcoming cruise. He has a set amount that he can blow. do the slots take $$ or do they use a card? I've heard people mention how the put $$ on a players account so now I'm a bit confused. Can someone give me the lowdown on how that works? ( Can you tell I don't gamble.;) LOL )

You need to download your winnings into your Players bank. When you first start to play the slots, You need your Sign & Sail card in the machine and then you will create a players bank for your casino winnings. When you download your winnings, you can either use the bank to upload money into another machine or go to the casino cage and cash out. Remember on the last night to go to the Casino Cage and close out your players bank. They are not open the morning of debarkment. It is seperate from your Sign & Sail account so the money will not be deposited there. If you forget to cash it out, they will mail you a check at some point in time. I got one about 6 months after I sailed. Edited November 17, 2013 by girlscruise2011

girlscruise2011 Posted November 17, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 17, 2013 (edited) thank you. that was very informative. Cressa, Paul, & Paul T Your very welcome. If you have any questions, the Casino staff is always very helpful. Just make sure when you husband plays, he puts his S&S card in the machine and takes it when he leaves. The Sign & Sail card is needed to access his Players Bank. Hard to believe I spend hardly any time in the casino ;) Edited November 17, 2013 by girlscruise2011
osucruise Posted November 17, 2013 #6 Share Posted November 17, 2013 You also do not have to wait until last day to cash out your winnings. I usually bring a set amount of $$ for day then each day cash out and put in safe and at least I come home with something. I am afraid if I left it on my card I would eventually spend it..:) Also, last trip forgot to cash out and like 3 weeks later I had a check sent to me for like $23...totally forgot it was still on card. riclop Posted November 17, 2013 #8 Share Posted November 17, 2013 The slots on ships should have a police tape around it because they steal your money.
ATL2LAS Posted November 17, 2013 #9 Share Posted November 17, 2013 Since you are going on a 7 night cruise. If your husband hits 1500 points, he will get the drinks on us card. That way as long as he is in the casino, he will get free drinks. The more points you earn, then you get put on their players club mailing list. As long as he is playing slots, make sure he has his card in the machine.

It depends on how much he hits and how much he puts back into the machine. If he hits a machine lets say for $200 and sits there and plays it for hours and then walks away with nothing and does that for a few nights, the points add up. I have no idea how the point system works on the machines but I had a friend who hit 1500 points on the 2nd night of a cruise and she didn't put that much of her own $$ in the machine but she was sitting on a machine for quite a while both days. Its coin in/out that counts .If one finds a good machine that keeps giving the bonus and keeps you playing this is possible just like you said if you put a $20 in and hit for $200 and park your butt and play it down to $5 and hit another $200 then keep playing and play down to $20 and hit a $100 bonus it can be done. Just not very many slots we have played are this loose on a cruise and we play in AC weekly and know which slots are usually good

The slots drive me crazy trying to find the "right one". My DH has better luck at the slots then me so I leave it up to him to try for the 1500 points. He has yet to get that many :(
RWolver672 Posted November 17, 2013 #14 Share Posted November 17, 2013 And for every 1000 points you hit, they give you $10. Another thing to remember is always put your card in before you put any money in. DW put a $100 bill into the machine and went to put her card in. There was already somebody else's card in there. She took that card out and put hers in. Went to start playing and there wasn't any money in the machine. It went to the first card that was in the machine. After about a half hour we finally got it straightened out but she was sweating bullets for that half hour.

It wasn't great but was better then it was on my previous cruise. I guess thats why they call it gambling ;)
SoCalKJ Posted November 18, 2013 #18 Share Posted November 18, 2013 Another awesome thing to remember: if you're short on cash for the next day's in-port/off-ship adventures, you can avoid the ATM fees by charging an amount from your S&S to the slot machine and then cash out your balance at the casino cashier cage. Granted your folio will reflect the "entertainment" charge, but you won't worry about w/d fees!
SoCalKJ Posted November 26, 2013 #19 Share Posted November 26, 2013 Let me make an addendum to that...once you charge your S&S and have the money on your slot machine, play a spin or two before you upload the credits and cash out at the casino cage. I uploaded $100 twice and immediately cashed out...when I went to try again on both slots and at the table, I was denied access until I got it "unlocked." I DO happen to play slots so I wasn't deliberately trying to be a scheister, but if you don't play ANYTHING, they will lock you. Lesson learned. SoCalKJ Posted November 27, 2013 #22 Share Posted November 27, 2013 [/color] That's because people have found out about the no charge and are using the slots as a free ATM and not playing. ....and that's how the couple of casino bosses treated me. I was fairly insulted. The second one came up with a print-out trying to figure out why it was locked...or at least pretending to locate the reason. He kept staring at the page and then condescendingly looking at me until I finally said, "yeah, I get it...I need to play a little before I cash it out." He asked me what I play and I said Keno, slots and BJ. He told me to wait while he went to unlock it. I stood there for about 15 minutes...he never came back. I finally stuck my card in a machine and hit the button to "charge my S&S account" and it was unlocked. I then proceeded to play a few machines and donated another $230. When I decided enough was enough, I started to leave and then guess who comes up and says, "Hey...where did you go? I was looking for you to let you know your account was unlocked...?" I said I knew and that I made some more donations so they didn't think I was some scheister. I walked away, defeated. I've never been disregarded in such a way. It was my 10th cruise....not some newcomer. It took a lot of restraint not to tell him to shove it, but I simply said that I understood. That print out probably already reflected all the SLOT money I donated...and if they really wanna be convinced, they can go back through my history of play (table AND slots) and see that I'm not what they think. I understand their concern. I'm still annoyed, though, at the way I was talked down to...even if he was looking up at me! LOL!
