Vancouver Hotels for Pre Sept 2014 Cruise

Am needing help deciding on a hotel for the day before a Carnival Cruise. Will be flying into YVR mid morning and will use Skytrain to get to hotel. We are hoping to do some site seeing such as Stanley Park, Aquabus to Granville Island. Then will need to find our way to Canada Place the following day. We won't be in the hotel room much so not looking for luxury, just clean and safe. Thanks so much!

5 min walk from the last Sky Train station and sits right on top of the cruise terminal. Elevator straight from your room to checkin for the cruise. The only drawback is that it won't come cheap. Expect to pay around $250 Cdn for a night. Hotels in Vancouver are not cheap as it is Canadas most expensive city and very comparable in price to some place like Manhatten.

Does the Blue Horizon have somewhat easy access to the Skytrain and Canada Place?

The Blue Horizon is a great hotel and a very good location but is about 6.5 blocks from a Canada Line station (SkyTrain) and 10 to 11 blocks from Canada Place...a cab to Canada Place will cost about $10.

The good news is that Vancouver's downtown is quite compact so all of the downtown hotels are pretty much within a mile of Canada Place. However, here is a list of many 3*+ hotels that are within 6 to 8 blocks of Canada Place:

The Pan Pacific (part of Canada Place)

Fairmont Waterfront (across the street from Canada Place)

Fairmont Pacific Rim

Marriott Pinnacle

Renaissance

Hyatt Regency

Fairmont Vancouver

Tower at the Terminal City Club

Coast Coal Harbour

Delta Suites

Metropolitan

Four Seasons

Rosewood Georgia

Sutton Place (about 8.5 blocks)

Sheraton at the Wall Centre (about 10 blocks)

le Soleil

The Wedgewood

Vancouver's hotel's are expensive during the summer and the Alaska cruise season...I am not sure they are Canada's most expensive tough...but I often say that they are much like Fort Lauderdale's during the Caribbean season. My suggestion would be to watch Hotwire for a deal in the $135 range or bid on Priceline. If you are not inclined to schlepp your luggage from a Canada Line station to your hotel, a cab from YVR to most downtown hotels will run about $35.
