Love2Cruise4Less Posted November 18, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 18, 2013 (edited) Booked a cruise kinda last minute.... Flying into BWI 12/7 for a cruise departing 12/8 -- and NOT familiar with Baltimore. Don't need anything fancy, just a place to stay for the night. Since I have the evening free would like to find a place within walking distance to something to see/do -- downtown (?) or at least near a restaurant/lounge. Also, would like to find a hotel which might offer free shuttle from airport to hotel as well as shuttle from hotel to cruise port. Might any such hotel exist? If no such thing as free shuttles please suggest an approximate price for a taxi from airport to hotel and from hotel to port. Thanks for info/suggestions. Love2Cruise4Less Posted November 23, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted November 23, 2013 Where did you end up reserving a room? Airport. Now I have to figure out if there's any better way from hotel/airport to ship port other than $30 taxi ride.... Could rent a car on arrival at BWI and drop it off downtown the following day. That would give me a chance to visit Inner Harbor, etc. that evening.
jcl410 Posted November 23, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 23, 2013 There's no rental car drop off close to the cruise port... I assume you booked a hotel that has a free shuttle to the airport? There is a Light Rail line that goes from the airport to downtown Baltimore (about a block to the Inner Harbor.) Or ask if the shuttle will take you to Arundel Mills Mall, which has a casino, nice restaurants, and a very nice Egyptian themed movie theater. Underwatr Posted November 24, 2013 #6 Share Posted November 24, 2013 (edited) Cheapest way downtown: Hotel shuttle to the airport (free) then light rail from the airport into Baltimore ($1.60 one way, $3.50 day pass). Just be aware of the operating times of the light rail (until midnight Monday-Saturday but only 7 PM Sunday) and you'll be fine. EDIT: This works for sightseeing but NOT for getting to the cruise pier. Edited November 24, 2013 by Underwatr

Even if you can drop the car off downtown you will still need to take a taxi to the port from downtown. The cruise terminal is not in downtown. It is located at Locust Point which is an industrial area on the southside of Baltimore. If you rent a car at the airport you are better off returning it to the airport and taking a taxi or arranging a shuttle from the airport. Not knowing what hotel you chose, many of the airport area hotels can arrange a transfer from the hotel to the port. Some of them include it as part of your room rate.
