How are cabins on decks 1 & 2???

Past guest upgrade puts on deck 8 this time..... It will be interesting to see the diff.

On splendor the main dining rooms are on Deck 3 so it's actually pretty close to most things. And th extra stairs to get to lido? Exercise!

Just got off the Splendor yesterday and had an interior on the main (2nd) deck, mid ship - 2321. It was our first time being so low, but since I'm prone to motion sickness, I actually liked our position very much, and it was very quiet. We didn't have much trouble with waiting for elevators considering we had a few options being mid ship. Enjoy your cruise!

We had a Cove on the Breeze. And next month a Cove on the Dream. We have sailed on the Dream 3 times before.......Once in an inside by the Main elevator...best cruise ever. Once in a balcony that was on the Empress Deck, right over the Hot tubs. Total waste of money on that balcony.. No privacy at all. Should have booked an inside. Great cruise though.

 

Then once in a balcony on the panorama Deck.

I did get a little queasy sometimes. We had to go down to the 9th floor to catch the elevator if we wanted to go to the Lido Deck and not cross where the pool was..(very windy on that cruise) We were near the Pasta Bar. Good cruise

 

COVE...++++++ close to Dining Room. Can take the stairs even if you are old and feeble..like me. Close to Shore Excursion Desk. main Desk. The Casino is 2 Decks up. The theater is 2 decks down. Not One Moment of being queasy.

I like being far from the Lido Deck. I eat what I want and don't snack because I am too lazy to walk the stairs .or wait for an elevator at peak times. I am saved from overeating.

And We like the view. The privacy. it is very quiet down there. I am very happy with Deck 5..main. I have my DD, SIL and grand daughter in an O.V. Deluxe on the Rivera Deck. Her Birthday present. She will turn 33 On the cruise.

 

One thing about the Lido Restaurant..The Gathering...that I like is that ............they have food that my grand daughter likes. Chopped fruit. . cold ham and thin cheese. food that she can eat with her fingers. Hot dogs cut upp. ice cream cones small enough for her to hold. Grilled cheese sandwiches cut up. Fries. She likes to dip veggies in Ranch dressing...so the chopped broccoli and cauliflower, tomatoes and cukes on the salad bar ..plus she is addicted to Cottage cheese ( her other grandmother is Polish.)

The ONLY bad thing about deck two is getting a cabin under the galley.

In a couple of ports, I've waited in a very long line (a herd) the Deck 1 (or perhaps Deck 2??) hallway. It struck me at the time that if I were in those cabins, I might not want that herd (louder than having no one) outside my cabin (if I were present) and again at the end of the day, folks traipsing through on their way upstairs.

 

Funny that no one else has mentioned this as a potential drawback. Maybe it's just me?

Depends on what part of the galley you are under. It can be almost noiseless to banging during mealtimes.

Lower decks typically feel less ocean motion. :-) All the way forward, you can experience noise from the water hitting the hull.

 

And the chain! But usually only at a tender port such as HMC or Grand Caymen.

I've seen it as well on Deck 1. Some of the cruisers kept peeking out their door to see what the commotion was about. I guess if you're a late sleeper and you are on the side of the ship that disembarks at a port, it could be a drawback.

I been on deck 1midship and fwd cabins, and deck 2 AFT cabin. I preferred deck 1 midship it was quiet and didn't feel the motion. In the Fwd cabin we heard the waves hitting the ship and we felt the rocking. In the main deck 2 AFT we heard the noise and felt the vibration when the ship was pulling in and out of port. We also heard the music from the dining room when the waiter did there dance.

 

I like being on the lower deck it's one level down to exit and enter from being on port. and I never had an issue with the elevators. I use the stairs a lot.

Only been on decks 1 and 2 for 6 cruises and did great!! Went to get hair done a few times on deck 9 when we were in rough water OMG haha like lower aft and mid decks :D

I've had ocean view Panorama, inside and balcony. We just booked inside deck 1 again. Although it was nice being rocked to sleep on the Panorama deck it did not compare (to us, ymmv) to the quiet on deck 1. Plus you are so close when it is time to get off the ship in port!

We had an OV on deck 2 cabin on Splendor. The room was fairly large to.

On the Conquest, if you are on Deck 2 ocean view, most of your room will be under the lobby deck exterior walkway, very little of it will be under the Galley.

 

I think the Interior rooms would be the ones that have the noise trouble from the Galley.

We have had balcony rooms on deck 7, 8 and 10 before but we much prefer OV rooms on deck 1 or 2. We always request midship. We love being close to the water and less motion.

 

We never take the elevators so that isn't a problem. We love the extra exercise.

Hi, we just booked a cruise on the Splendor on Jan 20, 2014. We have an inside stateroom for 4 and will most likely be given a cabin on decks 1 or 2. Does anyone know how they are? Are there any benefits or negative aspects for having a cabin so low in the ship? We know it will be cramped, and that's ok, just wondering about noise, motion ect... Thanks in advance for any responses!!

We always book inside midship on Riviera Deck 1. On all 12 CCL cruises, it's been quiet.

 

One thing we like is that when you get off the ship in port, you only have to walk down one flight. Also coming back on we only have to go up one deck.

Just a sweet story, thanks....I really like it when little ones have their little diets happy and we should eat more of that up there anyway..I have the thinnest most active and gorgeous niece graduating from college this year..she is a picky eater but eats right...and she went through a time when it was BBQ potatoe chips and coke..all she wanted..but her mom handled it so well..she just slowly moved to better finger food...like mom...Sarah
