"Live from" Queen Elizabeth to the Mediterannean! My First Cunard Experience

Here, we went into a few stores here and there to scope out some souvenirs.

 

 

 

 

 

:O They have Yogen Fruz in Greece too??

 

 

We walked around the downtown area for a while

We then slowly started making our way back to the ship. While doing so, we came across something interesting.

Besides the nice church ruins, there were these adorable little puppies (beagles I believe), that were excitedly playing with each other and running around all over the place.

 

 

 

Everyone (even the people around us) were having a ball just watching them play (: So cute!

 

 

Anyhow, I took a few final pictures before Dad told me to stop being distracted by the puppies.

After that, we made our way back to the ship. It was about 2:30pm.

 

 

 

Upon entering the ship, we were given these hot towels to wipe our hands with. They had this laundry basket by the elevators to dispose of them:

 

 

We then headed up to the Britannia to eat lunch, but upon looking at the lunch menu, we decided against it. There was literally nothing we wanted to eat. We then turned around and headed up to the Lido. We kind of wound up just getting a mass of food for us to share.

After lunch, I headed out to the open decks to take pictures of Rhodes.

I then headed back inside to go to the other side of the ship. While I was doing that, I passed by the main dining room again and saw this:

I then headed up to deck 9 to take some pictures from there.

I ran around the top deck of the ship and spent the next little while just taking pictures:

After that, I headed back to my stateroom to get ready to go to the gym with Sis. While we were there, we ran into my Swiss friends!

 

We finished around our usual time and headed back to the room to get ready for dinner. After we were all ready, we headed down to the dining room!

 

Here was tonight’s dinner menu:

 

 

 

Note: It appeared that our head server was back to normal and acting professional again.

 

Mom opted for the Parfait of Duck Foie Gras with Caramelised Pear and Sauternes Jelly:

 

 

(Which was surprisingly good, considering the fact that I don’t usually care for foie gras)

 

Dad, Sis & I on the other hand, all ordered the Scallops with Thai Salsa and Rice Cake:

 

 

(Which was delicious. I loved the rice cake too!)

For the entrée, Dad, Mom and I ordered the Duo of Roast Rack of Lamb and Lamb Confit with Green Beans, Boulangere Potato and Natural Rosemary Lamb Jus:

 

 

(This. THIS WAS SO GOOD. Rack of Lamb is one of my favourite, but IT WAS SO GOOD. We had them done medium rare :D)

 

Sis (who does not like lamb), went for the Lemon Sole Bonne Femme instead:

 

 

(To her, it was eh, okay, cooked fine)

 

Then, it was on to dessert!!

 

First up was Sis’s Bacardi Day and Night Mousse:

 

 

(Which was good)

 

My Raspberry Chocolate Cake:

 

 

(Which was extremely disappointing. It was immensely dry.)

 

Mom’s Chocolate Soufflé:

 

 

 

(which was very tasty)

After dinner, we went to go take some pictures of ourselves since we were all decked out in our formal wear. It was actually very nice to see other people dressed up as well! There was a high population of Japanese people on board, so I saw many people dressed in formal kimonos! Very cool!

 

 

I also took a snap of my own dress! :)

 

 

As we walked around, we noticed that there was some sort of party going on in Queen's Room for gold, diamond and platinum Cunard members. There was a long line up that stretched all the way to the Atrium!

 

Anyhow, we went back to our rooms to briefly rest before heading to the theatre to get seats for tonight’s show.

 

 

Look how nice everybody looks! :D

 

The performer tonight was Phillip Browne, a musical performer who starred in the Broadway rendition of the Lion King! He played Mufasa!

 

 

He was actually one of my favourite singing performers! He was the first one to sing songs that I knew LOL. He was quite good at singing, very Broadway. His acting was also fascinating. He did impressions of people when he sang their songs and he got immersed into the characters very quickly. The most epic moment however, was when he did Mufasa’s lines. You know, the part in the movie when Mufasa shows up in the clouds and tells Simba to “Rememberrrr..” :D That was so cool. Some of the songs he sang (that I can remember) included Michael Bublé’s Just Haven't Met You Yet, Lion King’s Circle of Life, Nat King Cole’s L.O.V.E., Javert's song in Les Misérables – Stars. I was actually SO happy to have someone sing songs I actually know! :D :D :D

After the enjoyable show, we headed up to the Lido for our usual late night snack. Tonight was a French themed buffet!

Day 10: Crete (Heraklion), Greece

 

Monday, November 18, 2013 : Informal

 

 

I woke up just past 8am, and while we could've had breakfast in dining room, we opted for lido since we like it better (dining room breakfast is always the same). Before heading out however, I reviewed the Daily Programme, as well as the guide to Heraklion.

After that, we went up one floor to eat our breakfast!

After eating our fill, we returned to our rooms to gather our things before we left for the gangway:

 

 

After we got off the gangway this was what we were met with!

 

 

 

There’s a shuttle that takes you to edge of pier! This is where you end up.

When you exit the terminal, turn right. Walk following "to city centre" signs, or you’ll get lost like we did o_o

We ended up walking along all of these tiny little sketchy areas

until we arrived at an AB supermarket!

Thankfully, they had this map at the front of the store!

 

 

We quickly figured out our location and started making our way back to the city center.

Finally, we knew where we were! :D

 

 

 

At one point, I was about to complain because I was hot and tired, but then I suddenly got permission to eat my chips and I was immediately silent LOL.

 

 

 

 

We then proceeded to explore different major bustling commercial streets that surrounded the city center.
