Smoking on Dream Lido deck

I went on the Dream in April and yes the lido deck is non-smoking, but all they had to do was take the outside stairs up to deck 10. The ones right there by the bar! Lots of tables and chairs set there to smoke, I went up with my friends haha That's why I remember.

So, it must have started before I went! lol

I was so surprised when she told me that. I just looked, my last cruise on Dream was in April 2011 and we spent a great deal of time in that area. It's not so much going up another deck if you know it ahead of time, it was the element of surprise. Can't blame Guy burgers this time.

I had chosen not to go with my group, though was invited. They chipped together and had a grand suite with a balcony, but during some maintenance, even their balcony was closed 3 of their days:eek:

We just got off the Elation a few days ago & the first day on there was no smoking on Lido, but the next day there were ashtrays out & people were smoking. Not sure why they weren't letting anyone the first day....

I think at least part of the day was safety precautions while they refuel. I've had that happen while still in port.

Effective June 15, 2011, cigarette smoking in public venues will only be permitted in Carnival’s dance clubs as well as in designated areas within the casino and casino bar.

Smoking (including cigars) will be permitted in designated exterior open deck areas (starboard side) of all our ships. Additionally, smoking will also be allowed in the jazz clubs of the following ships: Carnival Destiny, Carnival Triumph, Carnival Victory, Carnival Conquest, Carnival Glory, Carnival Valor, Carnival Liberty, Carnival Freedom, and Carnival Splendor.

* All Spa Suites and Staterooms, inclusive of the balconies, are an entirely smoke-free environment. Spa suites and staterooms are on the following ships only: Carnival Splendor, Carnival Dream, Carnival Breeze and Carnival Sunshine.

* Effective December 1, 2011, smoking will be prohibited in all guest staterooms. Guests in balcony staterooms may smoke (including cigars) outside on their balcony.

Guests who smoke in their staterooms will be assessed a $250 USD cleaning and refreshing fee on their Sail & Sign account. Information on this fee is included in Carnival’s ticket contract.

Note: Electronic cigarettes or e-cigarettes are only allowed in the designated smoking areas.

I wS on the dream about 3 months ago

I I almost positive smoking was permitted on the port ride bar

I could be mistaken as I have been on her 4 times and I stopped smoking a year ago but it doesn't bother be

Port side was always where the fun people were lol

I hate to ask this, really.

My friend just got off Dream Saturday, found out Lido is now no smoking.

When did this start? She and others were upset because of it as they were unaware of it.

In September on the Conquest, it was no smoking. We used to be able to sit at the bar by Mongolian Wok but now with the new 2.0 and Guys being there we had to go up a level. It wasn't really that bad but a little more hassle. I didn't mind.

It's common knowledge about Lido and Guys now. It started about Dec 2011 on Liberty. I think that was the first ship. At that time, it was an instant no forewarning event. I know, I was on Liberty then.

We were on in August and don't remember seeing smoking there but you could smoke 1 level up on deck 11 which over looks the lido (10). Here is the fun times link where is states the smoking area.

ok, i think I understand, The Dream hasn't had 2.0 yet since its so new and was before 2.0? So, even without Guys, etc it's no smoking?

Bummer!! We were on the Magic in May and could smoke on Lido deck, aft, port side. (same deck as the bar, hot tub and pool) Why would it be different on the Dream?

Hate to be the bummer here, smoking on Lido no problem.

Each and every time on the Dream class , smoking was allowed.

:( Enjoy .

I was on the Dream in Sept - there is definitely no smoking on the Lido - you do have to go up one deck.

It did seem a littler roomier than the smoking areas on Lido - I was on the Legend a few weeks ago, and never found an empty table in the smoking section on Lido - thankfully I was in a balcony so didn't need to visit very often.
