canny_cruiser Posted November 25, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 25, 2013 (edited) Travelling this Friday on a 787 to BGI. How strict are they with the 5kgs limit on cabin baggage. My cabin case already weighs 2kgs empty :( Edited November 25, 2013 by canny_cruiser
sagaris Posted November 25, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 25, 2013 When we have travelled with Thompson and Thomas Cook they have weighed the hand luggage and have been quite strict with the weight. We were 1kg over once and had to take a pair of trainers out and put them in the checked in luggage. I think it is a safety issue with the hand luggage being in the overhead lockers. I have since bought a lightweight carry on case from Matalan:) Molly
kersh Posted November 26, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 26, 2013 In our experience very strict. Make good use of your coat pockets for things like chargers, jewellery, mobile phone. Sue

canny_cruiser Posted November 26, 2013 Author #6 Share Posted November 26, 2013 Well, I'm thinking of taking a shoulder bag instead. (my coat pockets are not so big to hide kgs of excess!)
canny_cruiser Posted December 2, 2013 Author #7 Share Posted December 2, 2013 (edited) Nobody checked my handbaggage at all. Could have had my case after all. But it's easy to be wise iafter the event. Edited December 2, 2013 by canny_cruiser
Judith Chalmers 48 Posted December 2, 2013 #8 Share Posted December 2, 2013 Hi Canny Cruiser what's your weather been like. We are joining Ventura on 6th December and looking at the forecast it doesn't look too good.
canny_cruiser Posted December 3, 2013 Author #9 Share Posted December 3, 2013 (edited) Hot, hot, HOT! In tortola today and ther's just been a rainshower (our first) but it is still very hot. Had to have a complete change of clothes when I went back to ship at lunchtime and am now sitting in bar by Road town marina (wet through again) drinking a painkiller and catching up with internet. This is our first afternoon when it'snot been sunny - though plenty sunny here this morning. Edited December 3, 2013 by canny_cruiser
Judith Chalmers 48 Posted December 3, 2013 #10 Share Posted December 3, 2013 Thanks so much for info. I don't mind short sharp showers but honestly every site I have been on is predicting, rain, wind and even thunder and lightening. I am delighted that you have had lovely weather. Enjoy the rest of your Cruise
