AtMaui Posted November 27, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 27, 2013 This is a wonderful company if you want to do a tapas tour in Malaga. We visited 4 places on our recent TA and not only do I highly recommend Michael but I will do it again if I go back to Malaga. He is very knowledgeable and the food and wine were wonderful. He offers other tours too. Jaci
campolady Posted January 3, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 3, 2014 Malaga has some of the best Tapas bars in Spain but you do not need to go on a tour to find them. 3 unmissables - and only a short walk from the Port - are:- Antigua Casa La Guardia - Avenida Alameda Principal (main street) - reputedly the oldest bar in Malaga where Malaga Wines (similar to Sherry going from very Dry to very Sweet) are served straight from the cask. Your drinks running total is chalked up on the ancient wooden bar in front of you. Great Seafood Tapas too. Bar El Pimpi - access either down an alleyway off Calle Granada or immediately opposite the Ampitheatre excavations - a very popular bar with locals and celebrities alike with a lovely indoor Andalucian courtyard. Try a very well priced platter of their Serrano Ham. Bar El Jardin - behind the Cathedral - an Art Nouveau bar that serves the best Tortilla Tapa anywhere. Also Quitapeñas - several branches around the city - all serve traditional Tapas and a good selection of local wines.
LondonTowner Posted January 3, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 3, 2014 I agree with Campolady that a tour is not needed to find good tapas in any major Spanish city. In November we visited one of the Sherry bodegas in Jerez. We asked one of the employees for a recommendation for a place for lunch. She recommended an excellent, easy to find tapas bar.
