It seems she's been late back to Baltimore a lot lately. We sail her next Sunday. I think we will still go to the port early and take full advantage of our suite priority boarding (first time) :D. Thanks for posting.

Hope your DD had a fun time. Pls let us know.

When I spoke with her earlier, she said they had a wonderful time. They are a family with young children, 9 yr. old twins, and a toddler, and she said it was a great vacation. I hope you also have a great time.

Is there something wrong with her engines/thrusters/pods/whatever they're called? Or have there just been rough waters off the coast of NC that they're having to slow down for?

It's pretty typical in the winter for them to be late due to the seas/currents. It's a long haul to do in a day and a half from the Bahamas so if they have to slow up any on the way back they end up coming in late.

They told us it was due to undertow. They made anouncements the night before but we didn't hear them. The first time we were in the dining room and later in the casino. The speakers system on that ships is not the best. Never did we hear any anouncements in our room other than for the muster drill. The TV will go mute IF you have it on and you can go into the hallway to try to hear what is being said. Really bad system, we missed 99% of anything that was said. I didn't mind missing the sales pitches but there were some things we really did need to hear. Those should have been sent into the staterooms IMO!

We would have missed our flight out of Baltimore if not for special help from a Carnival emp. He ran us off the ship in record time and we made our flight with 5 minutes to spare. I wish I had gotten his name so I could send him a big thank you! Saved the day for us.

Not a cruise we would repeat, but overall we had a good time. NO cruise is ever really "bad", they just get over!

DH and went to the port to pick them up, and we watched the ship docking around 9:30. DD and family did early walk off around 10:15. I'm guessing the ship is often late returning in the winter because the north Atlantic and the Chesapeake Bay can be rough, which could slow things down. I'm not a marine engineer, but that would make sense to me;):)

Rough waters off the Carolina coast is nothing unusal. We've experienced this several times.

OP - Glad the family had a great cruise. The rough waters can make it a bit exciting.:)

We are cruising the Pride in late January and at this time the three of us are planning to park at the port. We usually arrive abound 10ish. What happens if the ship is late and we can not park? We are platinum. Do they made us wait in a line, or ask us to come back? We usually do a hotel with free parking and shuttle, but this cruise we would need 2 hotel rooms, and it just made sense to drive and park at the port as we are only an hour away. Now today's weather is compounding out plans:eek:

I just asked this question at the port while waiting in line to park for our 11/17 cruise. The guy working in the parking lot said they have never had to turn anyone away. They make several lines for cars waiting to park. We got there by 10 and were parking the car at 11:15.

But did not get to board until around 1 p.m. due to it taking so long to get everyone off the ship.

We did the snowmageddon cruise on the Pride four years ago. We were one of the first cars to the port. It is very much as PP have described when there is inclement weather only they will still allow shuttles and taxi around the gate to drop off passengers. If there is snow on the ground, they'll bring in plows to get the parked cars out and once they're mostly out, they'll finish plowing to make way for new cars. We were surprised by how efficient it was.

If you're concerned about inclement weather (bat crap crazy like we are) make sure you bring a shovel, snow brush and a small container of rock salt to leave in your car. It's handy for digging yourself out and you never know what you're coming home to.

This is true. Last December we arrived before the previous cruisers had disembarked. The attendants told us where to pull up and wait. There were three lines that I remember, it was very orderly.

Reminds me for next Sunday..

TAKE CASH FOR PARKING ($105).

Just remembering CASH LINE MOVES FASTER THAN CREDIT CARD LINE!!
