Zarabear Posted December 9, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 9, 2013 So my mom comes in this morning, worried about some cruises coming up at $0 as she was wishing and hoping to get away from this cold snap we've been enduring up in Northern California. What?? $0? I take a look at her screen, and yup. $0 for an inside, $600+ for a view, and $70 for a balcony? We start playing around, and can't believe our luck! I play around on my account, I have great rates, but not free. There's only one problem, we are a group of 3 when we travel because of my 11 year old son. Adding a third to the reservation makes the price skyrocket. Compromise! I book a room at $100 single booking premium (but receive it back in onboard credit) Mom books a room for her and my son at $0! Carnival helped link the reservations, we are right next door to each other, and we are on our way to Mexico on board the Miracle in February!! What an early Christmas surprise!:D
alymb03 Posted December 9, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 9, 2013 Is it some sort of glitch?? Lucky you.

GTO-Girl Posted December 9, 2013 #4 Share Posted December 9, 2013 It will be "sweet" right up to the point Carnival catches their mistakes and corrects it......:p
Zarabear Posted December 9, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted December 9, 2013 (edited) No glitch, it was an offer for casino guests? ( I swear I didn't spend that much in there! I did win 3rd place in the little slot tournament they had.) Our last cruise was... over 3 years ago? I am super stoked about this trip, and it wasn't being planned for, but how could we resist that pricing?? We booked over the phone with a representative, no glitch or mistake. :) (To Clarify, I booked mine first, the single room to get a desirable location, then called and was able to get an adjacent room for my son and mom.) Slippin Posted December 9, 2013 #6 Share Posted December 9, 2013 The same thing happened to us. Our balcony room was $120 pp!!!
Zarabear Posted December 9, 2013 Author #7 Share Posted December 9, 2013 I was trying to see if we could swing a balcony, but this gets us on the ship and we can spend more time up on deck, right? This close to Christmas, it was hard to justify springing a trip like this, but seriously, how could we not?

Zarabear Posted December 9, 2013 Author #14 Share Posted December 9, 2013 Well, they will be pretty disappointed in my casino showing, as I'm not anywhere near a regular. :p I am going to enjoy this cruise with my mom and son and have a blast though, no matter. :)

cruizinisthebest Posted December 9, 2013 #19 Share Posted December 9, 2013 We go to the casino a little, but have never received a casino rate. Lucky you. And I rarely go in there. Never been offered a free cruise. So yeah you're casino spending has much to do with it! Enjoy your cruise.

barbatkins Posted December 9, 2013 #22 Share Posted December 9, 2013 Very strange but have a great time. I'm jealous! 35 cruises on Carnival....and I'm in the casino day and night....I play tables and can lose $100 in no time at all!! And I've NEVER been offered even $100 off a cruise! Much less a free cruise. Good for her but kinda sux for someone like me who cruises a lot and gambles regularly....
Zarabear Posted December 10, 2013 Author #23 Share Posted December 10, 2013 I'm just really grateful for this opportunity. Mom had been living in Alaska the past 3 years, and she's recently moved back to California. it'll be a great vacation with the three of us (My husband won't cruise )
Zarabear Posted December 11, 2013 Author #24 Share Posted December 11, 2013 We got to thinking that this was such an incredible deal, so we called Carnival this morning to see if we could upgrade to a balcony for at least one of the rooms. All in all, once we were done, both inside rooms were upgraded to extended balconies, one floor up, for $50 per cabin. How incredible is that? I feel like we won some secret jackpot or something or this is all dream. (And I didn't even lose my onboard credit!) Can't wait 'till February now!! ~Zara
lhspears Posted December 12, 2013 #25 Share Posted December 12, 2013 Yesterday I booked a balcony for a 7 day out of Galveston for $120 pp with a $100 OBC! Can't wait till January!! Sent from my iPad using Cruise Critic Forums mobile app
