Galveston Port Beer

We've heard rumor that beer is cheaper if you buy it while still in port in Galveston. Anyone know the deal with this? We are considering buying our limit and keeping it on ice for the rest if the trip.

You misunderstood. It is more expensive if you buy it while the ship is in the home port as that is when you have to pay taxes.

 

Even if it was cheaper - how silly would it be to keep up with a large quantity of beer on icein your room?

I read a review on here that said buckets of beer were cheaper until muster drill in Galveston.

I've also read many times that the bucket of beer is cheaper if you buy it before you leave port. Meant to see if it was true on my last cruise but time got away from me.

It is because the are only 12oz beers, they can not bring out the 16oz until after sail away.

Galveston is controlled by Archaic blue laws

Also the local distributors make sure they get their cut so cruise ships dont bring out all the regular booze:rolleyes:
